I find that it is really really hard to get an appreciation for the size of the Woodville Big Tree from photographs, because its got so many different facets from so many different sides that you just can't get it all in from one side. This colossal tree is something you have to actually experience in real life. You also can't get a sense of its true height because you're right up to the tree and can't see the full height of its crown from where you are. Nor does standing far away help because its surrounded by other trees. Its such a magnificent organism!
