Just purchased a 65" LG C8 for an amazing price and I absolutely love this TV! Everyone should remember that the level of calibration you can do on OLED TVs is downright intimidating, so any differences you see in reviews, that using the TVs' default settings, are irrelevant. Only viewing them after proper calibration can you make any sort of informed judgement. I do believe the Sony offers ever so slightly better motion handling, but there's just nowhere near enough difference to justify its higher price.

I have the 55C8l and I love using it! The Operating System is fast and fun to use. I would never want anything else on a TV!
Android on a Phone, yes! On a TV? Absolutely not!
And I myself have a Samsung Galaxy S8+ Android Phone.
The picture quality is amazing! I so much love the LG OLED (not saying, that the Sony won't be as good, since it also is a LG OLED Panel with a good processor).

I prefer the LG, the C8 is slightly brighter and have less aggressive ABL ( which you didn't mention ) . Sony's HDR approach brighten the image but overblown the details for brighter image, while the LG C8 tone map it for more details . For me to retain the details of HDR is the most important of being HDR.

I see that out of the box the Sony may look better, but LG makes the panels that SONY uses. So the same tech is available for hundreds of dollars cheaper, and I are spending this money for these tvs, I will adjust it to my liking. So, with that in mind the LG is a clear money saving option for me.

The people who are saying Sony is better probably haven't used the LG smart remote on their new webOS system. It turns your TV into an easy to use computer and that's freaking amazing! I now prefer surfing the web on that rather using my own laptop which is crazy

BOTH ARE GOOD! BUT LG PICTURES APPEAR TO BE LIGHT & SONY PICTURES ARE SHARP! THAT IS THEY ARE WELL BALANCEND! AND "YES" I'LL GO FOR SONY! MAKE BELIEVE!

Pause @2:47 to see a pretty big difference in PQ in favor of the sony. Shows the power and effectiveness of that x1 extreme processor, reviewers should mention it more for oleds especially.

LG C9 wins Best Picture Quality Ever prize by HDTVTest, according to 38 judges in a blind test. Sorry Sony fans but LG is king for 2020 and the foreseable years. And it's less expensive.

Using LG products from years. Absolutely no single issue from LG till date. I've always trusted LG and they're upto the mark. Prefer LG over Sony.
