Man big corporations are so stupid. I worked in logistics at Amazon for a few years. Our team used to do all the load planning then they decided all the load planning would be done via central planning and our job was to simply execute the plan they gave us every night.

The planning they did was so bad, it was costing us so much money so we got okay to cancel all the central planning trucks/loads and go back to our own planning as long as we showed exactly what we did and why and the cost savings. After 5 weeks, our tiny location, saved nearly 20k$. One of the managers from central planning came and watched us and asked what we did and why and looked at how much money we had saved.

Her response was your savings go into a different accounting bucket and it makes our metrics look bad so just go back to following central planning.

From that time on our team happily and maliciously compliantly executed central planning wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars at our site. Imagine the savings over the entire system if they just let each site do their own planning. Plus now they paid central planning to do our job and they paid us to do ours so double the cost.

I thought 5 years ago, the OEM will close the tech gap with Tesla over time. The quite the opposite; the gap is growing. Tesla is at least 7 years ahead. GM produced 40, 000 EV in the first 6 months of 2024 (the year of execution). That's 80% below target. According to Mary, she said GM will overtake Tesla in 2025. How is still employed?

IOM, the main reason US car companies do not advance is UNIONS. UNIONS control company employees and the jobs they perform. If a production line is threatened, for example, the front end replaced with a single casting, the union tends to weigh in because of the jobs that would be lost. We all know there is corruption with unions. I have seen it first hand.

I think the main problem is that companies do not want to spend money to save money.. it's all short sighted, they just see how much they are spending now and that's it

The company I work for makes the same mistake as the auto industry. The reason the giga cast is cheaper is because you eliminate the welds. You remove 75 robot arms and hundreds of spot welds. Each weld costs time, power, prep, maintenance, overhead, tolerance, Insurence, etc. each weld can cost as much as $0.75 when you factor all the variables. If steel costs $0.25 cents per sq ft less than aluminum it’s going to cost $7500 more than casting when you actually calculate it out with 10000 spot welds. Us manufacturing doesn’t know how bad they are because they don’t do complete cost analysis, don’t want to do the work of change, don’t want to get their hands dirty. They outsource rather than learn how to improve & solve a problem by throwing money at it or adding a part to badly address it. If all that doesn’t work, they spend twice the cost of making the car on advertising and lobbying to shove it down our throats and force the CEO to lie to investors so they all don’t get fired.

Hey SMR can you make a new, updated version, of your “Why I’m all in TSLA” video

Even if other OEMs decide to use large castings, they don't have the secret sauce. Tesla has figured out the alloy needed for speed and not warping.

In three years you’ll be able to do a show on the legacy auto starting to plan for 48 volt electrical architecture, and they’ll even be contemplating steer by wire someday.

Invest in the financial markets before retiring by diversifying across assets, allocating a small portion of your portfolio, staying updated on market trends, and considering long-term holding to balance risk and growth

Let me be the first to say as I cannot recall anyone else mentioning this. If legacy manufacturing had adopted all of the efficiencies that Tesla has done in building a QAULITY ICE vehicle at low cost, EV's would have never taken hold in the first place as the cost differential would be much more difficult to hit parity. Instead, they just sat around for multiple decades producing the same thing the same way with just enough minimal improvements to keep buyers happy (or at least not upset). Tesla addressed the issue of how do we build something that requires LESS labor, LESS materials, LESS manpower to make the EV attractive. This all could have been done for ICE vehicles. Building something is not the same as building something that is designed around being built efficiently. This is where Tesla has excelled so well and why OEM's are struggling so badly. It's not like OEM's have not had access to some of the same tech Tesla has (less AI/FSD). Ego and lack of drive just caught up with them, IMO.

I Hit $129k today. Thank you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started last month 2024. Crypto Financial education is indeed required for more than 70% of the society in the country as very few are literate on the subject.

The traditional car companies are heavily invested in stamped sheet metal with very expensive welding robots.

20:40 absolutely correct. However, the dye has a limited number of stampings before it needs to be replaced, as explained to me when I visited the Idra factory. Each piece therefore costs time money and energy to produce, and yes, that is small, relatively, but not zero.

Great video as always!
