The kids being honest is actually wholesome too, everyone gets busy but to realize organize and then confess is wonderful and honest.

For the first one, even in households that are intact, it's.important to remind the kids that the other parent loves them very much and how much they admire their kids. This is especially important for dads, talking them up helps kids open up and have better conversations with them. Kids love mom pretty easily from birth, but dad has to work for it and greasing the wheels a little is positive for everyone because you have to remind yourself why you love them. Only thing is, you cannot use this as a mechanism to downplay abuse.

The trick is to put the actual date in the calendar and then 2 weeks beforehand a reminder that the anniversary is in a fortnight, to give enough time to plan.

I always forget the reminder and get a shot of adrenaline, thinking it's that day. Helps with planning.
