As a retired teacher, I would grade this an A+. Your pacing, assurance, and production values were top notch and I look forward to giving this a try in the future.

Having worked in a bodyshop, this is an extremely well done step-by-step process for this repair! What's even better is that it's done with everything you can pick up at your local automotive shop over the counter. Because we had to take cleanliness to the next level to avoid customer complaints / re-dos at the bodyshop, I would also recommend painting the wheels on a cleaner surface, lessens the chance of dirt/dust particles flying up on to your work. Also, before the clear coat process, you could do a quick pat down with a Tack Cloth to make sure surface is clean as can be before you seal it in with the clear coat.

To anyone trying this: I achieved the best effect with three sanding steps in stead of two.
I first sanded and painted two wheels and then did the other two the next day. The first two I sanded with 100 grid and then 400 grid. After painting and drying, they turned out rather matte and a kind of icy silver and feel rough. I decided to put way more effort in sanding the next two wheels. I used 100 grid, 240 grid and then 400 grid, and spend just more time sanding generally this time and really made sure everything was nice and smooth. These two wheels turned out beautifully shiny, a more metallic silver and they are smooth to the touch.

Thank you Chrisfix for this great video! Learned a lot from it, and learned a lot from my own process too.
Biggest lesson: you can not be sloppy on the prepwork - it is the most important part. Don't think you will simply cover and hide imperfections with the layers of paint. No, the paint will only accentuate any imperfections you leave!

I love how my bro always uses stuff we can use like common working people instead of these fancy things common people don’t have

Just a word of warning, I work at a place put tires on rims, don't try to build up too much of that bondo on the lip of the rim. Especially if you intend on using lower profile tires, sometimes the bar we use to lift the bead off the rim can require some pressure and I wouldn't doubt that it could crack some off if you try to rebuild too much of the lip. Some shops may have different, more precise tools, but just thought I'd put it out there is all.

Hey Chris, awesome video. My son's mother has been driving around in an otherwise perfect town and country for years but for her corroded, scratched and oxidized rims that were so bad the clearcoat was flaking away, foggy and trapping dirt and brake dust....about 6 hours of stripping, sanding, primer, paint and 2K clear and she is blown away by how much she loves looking at her van again.... Thanks man, put a huge smile on my face!

Did my wheels today exactly as you said and it's perfect! Thanks very much for all your videos! I never would've thought, I could do some of the things you show and now I am encouraged to try more! And I absolutely love it! Me, who never really liked any form of DYI, but my passion for cars and your videos woke me. 😄 I tried some car stuff before, but it was very basic. But thanks to you I am learning new tricks to make everything better! Bought some tools, watched a lot of your videos and I am hyped! Keep up the superb content!

I just got a ford expedition 2003, and everything Chris is showing me, is what I will eventually be doing to my car. he is such a great guy. usually you'd have to pay someone to show you how they do the things he does, but thanks to him I can do it all myself!

I found that plastic metal works well for repairing alloy wheels. It's easy to use and incredibly strong. I was able to sand it down easily and paint it with a touch up pen.

I found your channel maybe a week ago and I just wanted to say thank you. I've learned so much it isn't even funny. I'm a woodworker and I wanted to pass something on to you that might help you save some money as well. I use a sandpaper called Abranet by Mirka. It costs a bit more than your average pack of sand paper, but its a mesh, so it rarely clogs and cleans very easy. It has saved me hundreds since I switched. I went from using half a pack per project to using only one abranet disk per three of four projects (They come 5 disks per pack, it comes in rolls and standard rectangles too). I've had to use them on steel and aluminum before and work great. Thanks again for your hard work, it is very much appreciated.
