1. Using pimple patches while on accutane.
2. Using retinol in a wrong way. Too much, too often, or giving up too early. After that we should use moisturizer. Trying to find a good frequency. It takes months to see the difference.
3. Using too many skin products.
Depends on skin type and problem we should choose the right one and stick with that. We should know our skin type. :)
Too many skin exfoliating can give you irritation. 2-3 a week is fine, but not everyday.

Hello from Canada. I love your videos. I am a 2 time melanoma survivor. The last time was Stage 4 metastatic. I love that you are budget friendly and you spend time on the Skin Cancer awareness. You show sign and symptoms. Keep up your positive mood.

Dr. Sugai, thanks so much for all of your thoughtful and professional opinions. Your advice is always spot on and I find your my “go to’ when I have a question. It seems you almost always have the answer. Like you, I vowed to make this new year one in which I STOP watching so many influencers and stick with only a couple that I trust. Also, I vowed to cut back on having too many products! It’s expensive and unnecessary!!! Thanks again!!!!

Thank you Dr. Sugai for sharing 😊 My skincare is very simple for my sensitive skin. My favorites are - the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle creamy cleanser, the Vanicream Moisturizing lotion and SPF 30 sunscreen 🥰 I exfoliate my skin every week with a Konjac sponge, very gentle on sensitive skin. Take care everyone 🌹

Number 3 definitely happened to me. We watch these videos and these influencers talk about what all they use and how it helps. I ended up putting to much and then had to back off from it all and start back over because of contact dermatitis.

Yeah....I hate that exfoliating skincare products like scrubs and toners and such say on the bottle that you can use them twice daily. I have oily combo skin and so I picked up an entire line of acne products and used them as directed. I then added on a twice daily scrub on top of that....then I added on the Ordinary's 30% AHA peel....yeah. It was bad. Perioral dermatitis which kept coming back and I ended up treating with tacrolimus ointment....which can lower your immunity locally. I have cold sores and so using that got rid of the perioral dermatitis but then caused cold sores.

Once all of that was finally mostly recovered, I created a more "normal" skincare routine, but for whatever reason, I am constantly having acne appear everywhere. It's a nice improvement over what was there not too long ago though, so I'm slowly trying to gently treat it. My skin was never sensitive before, but it's a lot more now. Though it's still not too terrible -- I spot treat the acne with salicylic acid once daily, and I've been able to use a gentle AHA/BHA wash off mask 3 times a week without feeling any irritation. I used to think the burning of those meant it was working....nope. If it burns, wash it off XD! That means your skin hasn't recovered enough to apply it again :P.

Anyways, don't make the mistakes that I did -- listen to your dermatologist or just watch dermatologists' videos on youtube. Don't do what your favorite influencer does, and definitely don't do what the bottle tells you to do. Because the directions on the bottle are a lie :(.

I did go down a rabbit hole but climbed back out with only four products I found useful and that you suggested. Love, love, love Aquaphor, CeraVe, Naturium and Ulta MD sunscreen.

I have cystic acne as an adult (40). The waitlist to see a dermatologist after getting a doctor’s approval is months. This helps! I did get peri-oral dermatitis. I was using an organic jojoba oil on my face .
