They didn't lie, the Rex Minifigure was exclusive to the Venator...at the time. Its like when a movie trailer says "in theatres only". It doesnt mean it'll stay like that forever, just that AT THAT TIME, it is in theatres only. Same situation here.

I hope Lego makes this a trend. I mean we got the best Vader figure ever in a $15 mech and now we’ve got the fan favorite Rex in a $12 set. Adding cool and detailed figures to cheap sets would be a great way to make people happy

This isn’t the first time an “exclusive” minifigure came out later in a cheaper set. Shadow troopers was supposed to be exclusive to the Tie-Crawler but a couple months later it came out in the imperial drop ship battle back.

Lego has many times used "exclusive" to describe exclusive to a wave. They have done this going back before 2010 and in other lines, not just star wars. This isn't a new thing, they use exclusive to mean exclusive to the wave of sets. People just NOW getting upset at this are showing their bias that they never cared about lego doing the exact same thing for years.

morally dubious at worst, Lego did prey on people who would invest in the Venator set for the Rex figure, but those who just genuinely wanted the set still get a fantastic build and a still currently exclusive figure along with it, Besides the only people who were able to afford the venator set purely for the Rex figure were likely scalpers and heavy wallet 'Lego investors' with thousands of children watching their youtube content

Unfortunate that the reseller market has such a stranglehold on the figure at the moment. Listings online at non-marked up prices are virtually nonexistent and lego’s site was backlogged with orders. I recently managed to strike gold at a Target and got the last one they had available, but I think there’ll be a drought of microfighters for the next few weeks to months.
