"The problems started when I attempted to enter the vehicle". Brutal.

So from my experience from owning a Mach E:

I use the key fob as well. I have noticed that the car won’t open any door unless it’s the driver’s first. I first found it annoying but also later realized it may be a safety feature. It’s a way to make sure no one slips in your car while your key is around from other doors. So now I just hit the unlock if I need access to the other doors. The only door that can be opened without opening the driver door is the rear door. That one I walk up to it with my key and kick my foot to open (love this feature). You can use the button on the door to open as well if you key fob is with you.

The SYNC malfunctions, I solve those by just restarting sync, hold volume down (or up, i don’t remember.) and forward (button that is used to play next song) on the steering wheel for 10 seconds. Takes less than a minute to get it working again.

I like the car and I think Ford did a good job taking a shot at making an EV, has its bugs but it’s still a great experience.

I love my Mach-E, but if anything, she is downplaying the cars software issues. I have had every one of the issues she reported along with issues with the autonomous driving and accident-avoidance features disabling themselves and the entire head unit becoming nonresponsive. I am less frustrated because I expected there to be these sorts of issues in the first year, I am getting frustrated by slow roll out of OTA updates which I would have expected to resolve some of these issues. While I know Ford can build cars, I am not sure they have a corporate culture that facilitates software development.

I've had my MME Ca Route 1 for a few months now. I see none of these issues. To be honest, I've never tried to open the rear doors first. (I no longer have small kids.). PAAK works flawlessly for me.

It's like it does have a mind of its own like, nope I don't wanna go out today and hence won't open the doors lol

Hi Shannon, I own a mach e since September 2021. I have the same issues with the phone as a key. First I thought my iPhone is too old, so I bought a new one, but here nothing works. I totally regret buying such a beautiful but not working car… I rather had bought a Audi Etron or a Tesla…

Turn off the unlock drivers door setting first and turn on the unlock all doors setting. See if that helps? We have two Mach-E’s and the PAAK sucks! I carry my one key around with me all the time. I’ve recently ordered a Model Y Performance and will be trading in one Mach-E for it. If Ford could use Tesla’s software the car would be perfect! The ride of the MME is great!

I love mach E but I agree with you... it is frustrating to have the recall notice on my app but being told from dealers that it is unfixable until next year.

Tesla's mobile ranger network is really under-appreciated. My Model 3 had a wonky turn signal that got fixed in my garage in a few minutes, & i backed into my own mailbox, breaking a taillight, which likewise got fixed in a few minutes. Awesome service.

Yup, since updating to v1.6 we’re having the same issue with the Mach-e doors. We got our letters for the front Windsheild and panoramic roof, but don’t have much faith in my local Ford deal-ships ability to properly service the vehicle. My last service for the vehicles A/C was disappointing and shows that my local dealerships mechanics are not up to the task of servicing this vehicle and yes the dealership is listed as EV certified.

Just an update, we just received the 1.7.1 update and unfortunately no fix for the door issue.

Been having the same issues. Really enjoy the car so far but it is super obnoxious that the phone-as-a-key doesn't work properly. My current mitigation technique is to open up FordPass as I walk up to the car and remotely unlock it, but that's not how the functionality was designed - and it usually comes with a 10-second delay, which is not ideal. Occasionally, I have to punch in the door code to get in, and every now and then it doesn't recognize the phone inside the car and I have to enter my backup passcode to start it.

The good news is that this is all probably fixable with OTA updates, it's just a matter of Ford getting their act together.

Thank you thank you thank you for making this video. I've tweeted Ford multiple times for these issues with no results. For me the issue with the door keeps rotating. First it was my front passenger door that would not open without opening other doors first. Now it's my front driver door that does not open. Bluetooth and Carplay/Android Auto is atrocious. Although wired android auto is slightly more reliable. Regarding PAAK the only way I get it to work is I force quit my app every time I lock my car. Means I cannot get any notifications on Android but that's the only way it works reliably. Ford really needs to fix these software issues.

Feel blessed that these are the only issues that you’ve had. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my car and even more so since I have finally gotten it back a week ago after having a bad battery cell that took literally 15 weeks to get it fixed! They also replaced the 12v battery also along with new brake pads. I’m literally learning how to use the car all over again. When it happened, I’d only had the car for 2 weeks. 😐 I’ve figured out that I’m a whole lot more patient than I thought I was. I’m now waiting for my dealership to get the parts in for the 2 recalls. I got my paperwork for that a couple of weeks ago. I’ve noticed that the PAAK isn’t nearly as reliable as it should be so I always keep my key fob with me so I don’t have any issues. I’m just praying that I have no more problems like I’ve already experienced!

Luckily most of this stuff has been fixed in current updates. If Ford ever pushes the OTAs you'll have most of this stuff fixed - but your dealer can fix a lot of it now...You probably have 10-13 updates available for that car currently. Also you can restart the sync mid drive by holding next track and volume down on the steering wheel.

Just wow! Even tho I had my issues with my Tesla i recommended two of my friends away from mach e to a model 3. They both love their model 3s. Thanks for sharing.

I know some people have had the issues of the front door wont unlock until the back door is unlocked, I think the dealer had to update a module. Or some people disc the 12v battery and reconnected and issue went away. There is a setting to unlock all doors in the settings also. My Mach E was delivered in July and have had zero issues. PAAK works all the time, carplay 100% of the time as well. But does seem to be some duds out there with software.

I owned a first year car model once and would never do it again. All brand new models seem to have bugs the first year.

Not sure if I missed it, but what year & trim is your Mach E? My understanding is the 2022 was supposed to resolve these software issues.

I’ve had my mme since may 2021 and the only issue I’ve had is the wireless charger doesn’t charge my iphone12pro. My paak works and I have two key fobs. My dealer gave me a second one. This latest update seems to charge faster but it has no way to track. I use a 240v/16amp at 10-11 mph and can add about 120 miles overnight, 6pm to 6am. Ninety five to 100% of my charging is home. I really like the looks of the MachE and it is great car for me and my partner. I’m 78yo and she is 72. The car is easy to get into and out, easy to park, hardly any road noises.Of course living retired in central Texas I kept my Escalade to tow my partner’s grandchildren’s horse trailer AND that is not a joke.
