I was literally saddened when they split ICE into two separate swords… really meant Ned was dead and possibly House Stark. Not to mention that Jeoffrey didn’t deserve to such an amazing sword… little schizz!!!

That was low even for the Lannisters to not return Ice to house Stark. They really got what they deserved in the end.

That ice that you’re talking about is the current one. It’s a call back to a way earlier version, which I and a few others speculate was lost by King Theon Stark when he went to Andalos in retribution for the Andals attempt at invading the North. The original Ice Nobody knows how old it was or when it was forged but I think it was one of the “Dragon Steel” blades me the from the annuls of the Nights Watch

What always got me with the “reforging” and to be honest a lot of “forging” scenes in tv and film is that somehow they’ve all figured out a way to melt the steel completely to liquid and then just cast badass swords in moulds that are somehow not as fragile as flass

The way Jeoffrey kills Ned and makes Catelyn a widow, and then has Neds sword melted and remade in to Widow’s Wail. That is evil but kinda funny 😭

It always bothered me that Tywin would waste his time and attention allocating a sword for Joffrey. In retrospect, though, I believe Tywin would have been thinking long-term, as he always did. Sure the boy king had it for the time being, but it was going to be passed down through his line (probably Lannister, not Beratheon, given the power shift that had taken place). Widow's Wail would have been the famous sword worn [not wielded] by the king of Westeros himself.

Aside: Come to think of it, what happened to Joff's Valyrian steel sword? Surely they didn't entomb it with the kings body in his crypt...

Would be a really fun play on words if the endgame wielders of the two reforged swords were somehow significant. With everyone theorizing about Snow/Denearys, or dragons vs. White walkers, it would be hilarious if the "song of ice and fire" literally referred to Ice the sword. It's a stretch but it would be a real hoot.
