Quick observation, the first walking bass line example to me was more to the root or closer or centered to the root of the melody, the next examples were always hanging out on the edge or just drifting off the melody or just outside wanting to slide right back in, I love all this as I’m Still trying to Learn all this and jazz, btw you’re an amazing teacher, I love all your videos, thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us all. 🙏

Another key to perfect bass lines is that you must get your facial expression just right, just like how he does it in 1:15 4:17 et al

This approach seems somewhat contradictory to the idea of linear ascending and descending lines over a number of measures which others seem to espouse when it comes to walking lines.

I don’t agree that all the notes have to be full duration to swing or sound right. I think if you play like that always -it sounds mechanical. Sure, legato most of the time but occasionally putting in a triplet or dotted crotchet brings it alive and swinging. Just my opinion folks.
