What REALLY Happens If You Swallow Gum?
Показать описание
Today we answer the question What REALLY Happens If You Swallow Gum?
Ever since you were a little kid, you have probably been warned about one thing: never swallow your chewing gum! But what would happen if you did?
The good news is, you probably will be alright. If it happens once in a while, you should not be concerned.
However, swallowing gum is not something that you should do regularly. Your stomach is not actually able to process and digest gum.
When you eat food, your body uses its digestive juices to break down the food so it can pass through your body. But when you swallow gum it make its way into your stool pretty much intact.
However, a large amount of swallowed gum has been known to cause constipation, especially in young kids. So do your tummy a favor and try and keep the gum outside your body.
There is an old myth circulating, stating that if you swallow a piece of gum it can stay in your body for up to 7 years.
This is absolutely not true, so there is no reason to worry. Your body is not going to store gum, but expel it as soon as you have a number two going! It just might make you take a little longer in the bathroom to get it all out.
In some cases, the gum is natural, while other products rely on synthetic elements. Whichever the case, swallowing a piece of gum occasionally will do you no harm. But you shouldn’t chew too much gum as it can be known to harm your dental work or even worse cause cavities!
So that answers the question, what really happens if you swallow gum?
That took some thinking! If you have any questions you would like answered leave a comment below!
