This happened to me. I was 13 at the time. I’ve always been the ‘biggest’ of my family. Ever since I was a preteen adults and family members would tell me to start losing weight while I was young because it was easier.
A family member of mine told me that wrapping plastic around my stomach would help me burn calories faster, so I did just that. I started exercising like crazy during summer break, maybe about 6 hours per day. I only ate small meals during the day, and I was losing weight FAST. That went on for about 2 months. Then, one morning I woke up to a strong pain coming from my abdominal area. I didn’t know what it could have been so I just took some Tylenol and went on with my day. But it kept happing every few days. Almost a year later, I was woken up because of the pain again. But it was a pain like I never experienced before. Long story short, I had to have my gallbladder removed. Now I have a strict diet I have to follow. No fatty food, no fired food, very little salt, very little spices, etc. From that day forward, I told myself I wasn’t going to change for others but for myself. I’m still on my weight loss journey but I’m going at my pace.

I used to be anorexic, and watching videos like these really make me understand how bad it truly was. Doctors warn against going under 1, 200 calories a day (for women). I was eating 200 calories a day, if that. God. I'm so glad I'm recovered now.

In my school, there's this one "Personal Wellness" class. And so recently, there's been this "eating healthy (WEIGHT LOSS)" unit. And so I'm sitting in that class, eating a pudding, and I think my teacher was staring me down. There was no guilt on my end, since the same school periodically sends home a letter about "Your child is underweight".

When I decided to lose weight back in July, it felt really slow and hopeless. I often wondered why I even bothered trying, comparing myself to myself in my prime just disheartened me even more. I was weaker, slower, had less endurance and weighed almost a hundred pounds more. I kept at it despite it all, formed some better eating habits and not doing it out of boredom, and now the start of the year has me weighing forty pounds less than when I started. I guess life is all about perseverance and consistency, I wish I was the wiser in school.

tips that helped me ♡

- ✧ eat ‘till you’re not hungry anymore, not until you can’t eat anymore (sounds like common sense but i used to eat until i couldn’t eat)
- ✧ literally eat healthier. junk food has a lot of calories but not enough nutritional value. if you eat healthier, you can eat more with less calories. i don’t get why people say fast food is cheap, personally it’s cheaper to cook myself.
- ✧ fast (builds self-control with food) be careful though, you still need food. don’t do it too much. like still eat at least twice a day.
- ✧ limit sweets. so many unnecessary calories that won’t fill you up. if i craved sugar i ate grapes or mango. i restricted myself to only one sugary thing per 2 days.
- ✧ there are many simple exercise routines that you can easily implement into your schedule. i went on walks. i would go on 5-10 minute walks, talking to a friend or scrolling through pinterest
- ✧ drink a lot of water, it makes you more full so you can portion control easier
- ✧ literally stop buying fast food. watch how they make the food, it’s low sanitary conditions and full of crap. you can make cheap, quick meals that take 5-10 minutes to make. that’s how long it will take you to drive, wait, order at the drive through.

✧୧୨ after a while, these tips become habits and you get a healthier lifestyle all together. remember to lose weight with the intention of becoming healthier, not to simply “be skinny” because that can become a dangerous mindset. eat food. your body needs it. ୧୨✧
