Persistent sinusitis even after adequate medical treatment is a significant problem, it has to be handled at once. One has to look for the reason for persistence, like probably some anatomical defects, or some other sinister problem like a tumor, or a fungal infection more commonly seen nowadays. Fungal infection is prevalent because of the increasing incidents of Diabetes in general population. Any person with Diabetes or the suppression of the immunity, they have a chance to get more persistent sinusitis.
Persistent sinusitis in itself is a problem, when it causes additional symptoms like blocked vision, black spots in the eye, pressure symptoms, anything that is pertaining to the eye then it is much more important that we handle it at once. It only indicates that the infection or sinusitis is spread into the orbit.
If you look at the actual orbit or sinuses they are separated by a very thin bone like the thickness of a paper. So, any infection, any tumor anything like that, can easily breach this and get into the orbit. We look for complications like this especially for orbit, the chance of losing a vision permanently is always there. If you end up with any symptoms like Blocked Vision, Blackspots in the vision, pressure or pain around the orbit, anything like that, it’s better to consult the specialist once.
