In this of the Downsized, Christopher Durham offers a candid dive into the world of weight management by comparing his personal experiences with the branded GLP-1 medication Zepbound Mounjaro and its compounded counterpart, Tirzepatide. The episode masterfully addresses the most prevailing concerns among viewers about the effectiveness and safety of these medications, which are widely discussed in the context of weight loss.

Durham details his weight loss journey, revealing a 62-pound loss since starting his regimen and the impressive results he witnessed with both medications. I have an update. I just picked up my first month's prescription for Wegovy at CVS. I do have good insurance and only paid $25. I feel so fortunate to be able to start my journey and only wish that others are able to get their medications as well. My plan is to start on Friday. I want to thank you Christopher and Loraine for all the information you have provided on your Youtube channel. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos 🙂

Thank you for this. I was on Mounjaro from July 2022 to Jan 2024 and I went from 284 to 128. Felt my best both physically and mentally, but could no longer afford. Since going off I am back up to 160 and started with Mochi this morning and compound is getting ready to ship. I am so hopeful I can get back to feeling better again soon. I really appreciate the information and your delivery. It made me feel a lot better about my decision.

My insurance won't cover weight loss drugs. I am very heavy and need to get weight off for knee replacements. I just got a new job and am able to afford a compounding pharmacy now. The needles are no big deal for me. Years ago I had to take a drug that was an IM shot with a 2 inch needle once a week. And it was all the mixing and drawing out too. Before the days of injector pens. My compound is super easy and needle is tiny. I don't even feel it. I also already have to give myself a shot of Methotrexate once a week. I know if folks haven't had to do it before it can be scary, but honestly, it's super easy. If that is the only fear with doing it that way, I can assure you. It's super easy.

With the level of shortage in my area it's like asking "which would win in a fight, a Grizzly Bear or a Dragon?" One of them is mythical.

I'm just getting started, got my script for Wegovy from my doctor, insurance approved, CVS says they will get the med in a few days....hope so. But if I can't get it from a local pharmacy my question is does a compounding pharmacy accept insurance for payment? I have never used one. Thanks for your information!

One question has been nagging me about compound pharmacies and maybe as Lorraine does her video, she can address it. Dave Knapp says 503b or it's not for me. I get my compound, due to this shortage, from orderly. They state they use 503 pharmacies. Initially, the lack of specifying 503b concerned me. However, investigation showed that 503a goes to a certain type of clientele versus 503b goes to hospitals. 503b does have more rigorous monthly checks, however, unless I become a hospital, I don't see how that would be available to a person trying to continue having their medicine through a shortage.
