ABOUT ME:🌿
Hi, I'm Christina - I'm a blogger slash vlogger slash human on the internet slash pharmacist, hence the "apothecary" theme in my name. I'm living in Toronto, Canada and on my channel you'll find me on my journey towards minimalism, being content with less, my debt free journey, and content on my LOW BUY. I also focus a lot of fashion. I think anyone can curate a personal style we can be confident in, using pieces from out own closet or with carefully thought out new pieces. I'm happy to take any requests, too! Your girl is flexible (not physically). Feel free to leave me a comment below - I always make sure to read and respond, and I love chatting with you guys. Thank you SO much for watching and taking the time out of your day to support my teeny little channel. Love xx, Christina.

Love this concept! I no longer spend money on makeup subscription boxes like Birchbox. I have spent all of 2020 trying to use up all those samples and I still have a ton. Really stupid! I also no longer watch Amazon Hauls or anything like Old Navy/Walmart, etc...They were filled with things I did not know I "needed" until I watched them. No more!

I haven’t bought anything from amazon for a few years now, and rarely did so before. why would I support a company that doesn’t pay any taxes and has extinguished so many small businesses, not to mention contributing to instant gratification mentality and over-consumerism that has exacerbated our climate crisis?

Think it about this way: do you want to support an unethical non-tax paying company like amazon? Could you get it directly from the seller's platform? or opt for a local option instead? or just get it secondhand from a thrift shop / friends / secondhand groups? It might be cheaper too e.g: freecycle groups. :) For plants, opt for low maintenance and low light plants. I don't have many natural daylight areas in my flat either... you'll already be a minimalist in choosing specific plant types.

Loved the moment when you discussed plants ‘not being their best little plant selves’! Totally with you - good content!

The only items I pre-order are books because it helps the authors a lot (especially when they aren't as well known or from a marginalized community).

Loved this! Stopped buying seasonal decor, new toddler clothes, jewelry, perfumes and excessive makeup!

1. Fancy clothes and underwear
2. Makeup or skin care, unless I'm replacing a staple item
3. Aspirational fitness clothes and gear
4. Doesn't apply anymore because COVID- but eating out and getting drinks
5. Also doesn't apply anymore - but entertainment like going to the movies or live music.

I'm also about 10 months from being debt free, you're almost there Christina!! I'm also pregnant and I'm trying to figure out a new set of challenges with limiting buying unnecessary items. I'm 20 weeks into this pregnancy and have yet to buy a single baby item, so I'd say I'm doing pretty well. Although I'm nesting like a SOB - I want all the furniture and home goods I've been putting off buying while I'm on my debt free journey.

Post Kondo-ing my whole life I spend MORE money lately on storage solutions. I have ADHD-related "object impermanence" so if I can't see it - I can't find it or forget I have it - I buy a replacement instead of using the one I have. Long-term, just buying (or thrifting) a storage solution saves me money, time, and keeps me from buying duplicates and pitching originals accidentally because they expired or got attacked by moths. Different brains need different things - this one I used to agree with you on, but I realized from observing myself I should just bite the bullet and get the storage tray/ basket/ pot lid rack/ whatever. I still try to thrift or upcycle these first, though - always a good plan :).

I do buy duplicates but in the same color, my favorite black tshirt i bought 3 of them. I love the idea of uniform so my outfits are all jeans and black shirts.

I have been trying to spend less on premade clothing unless it is something unique and exactly what I am looking to add to my wardrobe. Instead I am leaning more on “hobby” spending to make more of my own clothing. Not only do I get pieces I know I will love and cherish, I can make sure they work perfectly for me, they are unique, I can get entertainment out of the process of making them, and I get to support smaller businesses when I purchase yarn and fabric. It is an investment, but it creates a lot more intentional thinking and purchasing.

Number 10: Yes, so true. I have been guilty of the same. I have learned that you can't get enough of what you don't really want.

Ending my subscription to Amazon prime has done wonders for me stopping my impulse buying (and making me question if I really truly need something that I think I need). When I get to the checkout and see how much I have to pay for shipping, I immediately close out of the browser. Even if shipping's $5, that's a deal breaker for me, and I saved so much money because of this roadblock.

I love that you know what you want. I think so much about minimalism and sustainability is making conscious decisions. Hearing you have a valid way about your decision making is inspiring! :)

Sephora sale and Nordstrom Anniversary Sale both get me in trouble! Fear of missing out syndrome!

Personally, I no longer buy magazines subscriptions and cookbooks. They look cute on a shelf, but I never open them 😅

I completely agree on the cheap dupes. I'm never happy when I do that and just feel disappointed or ashamed that it's not the real thing or not what I actually want.

Some other things I've stopped buying: candles, perfume, eye shadow (i kept one palette and a few neutral colours, but no more buying colours I'll never realistically wear), nail polish, impractical shoes, subscription boxes, and specialty food items that only get used for one recipe.

Great video! I own a home and try not to buy home decor items. I hate Knick knacks. Too much dust and we appreciate negative space. When we purchase an item it’s something that is going to last. I no longer buy gym memberships. I workout at home. I found its better and I can be more consistent. Trending clothes is on my list too. I’m methodical with what I add to my wardrobe.
