Actually, Diary of a wimpy kid the musical is a real thing. It was commissioned for the children’s theater company in Minneapolis, Minnesota and premiered in 2016 and it played again in 2022. It only shows up every few years because it’s one of CTC’s original musicals and it surprisingly hasn’t gone to broadway yet. I’ve seen it twice and it is actually quite hilarious and it feels like the story comes to life in a new unique way.
