I review the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hot Mess book by Jeff Kinney and tell you my thoughts on it. Although it is another vacation book... can it still be good? Let's find out! #diaryofawimpykid

The fact that Frank used to be Cake's boyfriend before becoming Susan's boyfriend adds a little more perspective on how he behaves with his kids. I believe that in marrying and having kids with the sister of his ex-girlfriend, plus the fact that he was scrawny and constantly bullied, he feels like he failed as a "Man". A "Man" should be strong, tough, and loyal, yet he has never shown any of these traits throughout the books. And that is why he's constantly forcing Greg into several physical activities. It's a way to justify running away with Susan. I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense but it's how I interpreted it.

I like this book but its ending is literally just the same as the ending from old school . Like in both of them, Greg finds out that his family member has been keeping a secret for years, wants to tattle them out, but realises that he could just use their secret as his own when he grows up .

My ranking of this book:

Pros:
+All of the characters were pretty good overall.
+There were a lot of funny enjoyable moments, like the family playing knock off Monopoly and Frank getting destroyed by Manny and forced to sing in public, as well as the Flashback where Greg had dinner with the Jefferson's at the country club.
+The parts about social media were funny and relatable.
+The overall plot and themes about family were decent.
+Unlike the previous "Vacation Books" I like how this one actually feels realistic and relatable to what a vacation with your family and relatives would be like, and it doesn't fully rely on crazy cartoon shock humor that makes no sense.
Cons:
-There were some parts that dragged on for way too long.
-Uncle Gary literally added nothing to the plot.
-The ending felt really rushed.

My Final Ranking: 8/10. An actually good Vacation Book.

Not gonna lie, even though this is Long Haul 4, I really like it better than Long Haul, Getaway, and Deep End. Because instead of having 5 going to a trip, it’s actually 13 of them. Plus, they finally have an actual reason to go there.

I love this one. The ending is funny. Especially when they got into a fight with the family they cut in front of and stole the reservation from. LOL

Originally when I saw the Extended family, I thought Meemaw’s Ring from Hard Luck would come into play. While it would’ve been cool, i liked the direction Hot Mess went in.
