I think Crocheting is WAY easier. I'm currently trying to learn how to knit but it's extremely hard for me . People who knit are built different lol

I heard this from a professor that got me into crochet and knitting. Knitting gets harder the more you try to do with it. Crochet is the opposite, difficult to learn initially but easy to progress in. I was able to teach myself basic knitting in 30 min but I was only able to make squares and scarves. Crochet took me about 2 weeks to really understand and each new thing takes about 2 days to learn but you can do so much more with it and crochet projects are just a mash of different small skills that once you know you can make almost anything with.

I think knitting is easier. Proof: I taught myself how to knit left-handed so I could help my left-handed students. Tried to do the same crocheting; let's just say, the yarn was never seen again

I think it's harder to start learning crochet but once you know the basic stitches you can do so many different styles and it becomes easy to learn new stitches. With knitting every new stitch is completely different. You end up using needing 3 neadles at the same time. And when you make a mistake it is so annoying to fix.

I learned knitting many years ago and I still think it’s harder than crocheting which I learned a week ago. Knitting requires multiple active stitches at the same time which I feel increases the chance for mistakes. Knitting projects also make me feel like they’ll slip off my needle and ruin everything. Crocheting feels more forgiving in that you can just pull out the string and redo it.

As someone who does both, I'd say they're about as equally difficult as each other. My mom taught me how to crochet at around 8, and I learned knitting from a book I found in my school's library at around age 10.

However, while equally difficult, they both have different uses. For example, large, loose, fluffy things (like the baby blankets my mom has attempted) should be crocheted because a basic stitch makes it fluffy and the work goes quite fast. Barbie's Easter dress, however, should've been knitted, but I didn't know how to at the time, so she got a crocheted dress that her tits poked through.

I guess it just comes down to the individual lol I think crochet is borderline impossible and I find crocheters as a whole to just work magic cuz I cannot crochet for anything. But knitting seems so simple at times

I think whatever you learn first is usually seems easier. I love crochet. I want to knit but I struggle. I just want a hook on the end of that needle to grab that daggum yarn lol.

While one being easier then the other is preference, knitting does have a lot of tools to make it faster, looms, machines, cables giving many ways to learn, crochet only has a few different hooks but your projects can be as big as you want with having to get more hooks

i think knitting vs crocheting is like piano vs guitar. Piano is easier at first, but gets harder, whereas guitar is hard at first but gets easier.

Knitting is piano and crochet is guitar. Knitting and purling is easy, but once all the other jargon gets added into the mix it gets tricky, whereas with crocheting i think its very hard to get the hang of the basic stitches, but once you do, you're set! Obviously a huge over simplification, but that's how i see it as an ex musician and now intermediate crafter 😊

As someone who can do both, knitting is harder when making hats and sweaters etc. but crochet is harder for squares and stuff

I was taught to knit at 8 years old but over time I figured out how to crochet and I find it much easier

Knitting is definitely substantially harder for me!

Knitting was so much easier for me to learn for some reason and I have no idea why

In my experience, crochet is easier for freehand and things that require a lot of trying on while knitting is easier for vests and sweaters. Plus with crochet I never have to worry about dropping a ton of stitches if I accidentally fall asleep while working.

Edit: spelling 😅

Lifelong knitter who learned to crochet a few years ago. I think crochet is easier to learn, especially if you're learning on your own. Just because you need to do a lot of the more difficult parts of knitting from the start, like casting on, binding off and fixing mistakes. Especially fixing mistakes. If you have someone teaching you in person they can cast on for you to start with, and help with fixing mistakes until you have the basics down.

Crochet can be confusing for a beginner, but you can start out with the more simple stuff without having to do something more difficult from the start.

That said, once you have learned to cast on, bind off and fixing mistakes + knit & purl stitches, you can pretty much make anything. Whilst crochet I think it takes longer to make it look as good and learning new stitches can be more complicated.

I started off with knitting then went to crochet! Honestly crochet seemed hard until I really put my mind to it, now both come pretty easy to me

Crochet directions are so straight forward. For knitting instructions i have to search up every other stitch 😭

If you know crochet basics, you can catchup different stitches easily. But for knitting, you have to learn pretty much. But knitting is so delicate. Crocheting is kind of rough I think
