I have never refreshed or seen anyone do it on Mac, while on Windows I would spam F5 just for fun

There is a built-in setting in Windows that binds PrtScn to the snipping tool.
On Windows 10 it’s: Settings -> Ease of Access -> Keyboard -> Print screen shortcut.
On Windows 11 it’s: Settings -> Accessibility -> Keyboard -> On-screen keyboard, access keys, and Print screen.

Note for any Microsoft Surface Pro users: to take a screenshot, press the function key, windows key and the space bar all at the same time.

Ctrl + Option + Right click on the Finder icon, then click Relaunch. It's much faster.

Mac:
Option click finder -> relaunch

Also, screenshots have 3 different functions,
You mentioned CMD+Shift+3, but substitute the 3 for a 4 or a 5 and you have separate GUI’s to interact with.

Windows+shift+S is a shortcut for “snip and sketch” the new version of the snipping tool

On Mac you can also press Shift+Command+5, press options, and here you can can change the file location for the screenshot you just took. It is not limited to the desktop.

On Linux(Gnome) you can click prtsc to take a screenshot, shift prtsc to for a rectangular selection, alt for the current window, and adding ctrl will save it to the clipboard otherwise it will save it to the Pictures folder by default.

The mac screenshot feature also has a built in screen recorder and you can set all the defaults including where it is saved via COMMAND SHIFT 5
