My guitars are set up in Eb, but this is great for me to use in reverse. Tune down the song I’m trying to learn.

This is quite a solid advice, however once I've gone to Eb, I never went back and have been playing songs that are originally in E with no issues. First, it made singing higher notes easier for most of the singers I've worked with, second the tuning allows me to use thicker strings with less tension, and thirdly, in the live setting, to the most people it is unnoticeable if you play songs that should be E in Eb tuning. However the opposite is immediately noticed, as it lacks the "grit" that tuning only half-step down brings.

I understand that this is a personal thing, but I love Eb tuning for these reasons.

I love my 'Drop-tuned' guitars, and will keep them for all those many-MANY songs in Drop-tuning, but this was a handy tip to install the Transpose add-on to Chrome/YT. (Alternatively, just learn to transpose one way or another)

A great solution for people that in consequence will never learn proper the pitch nor the instrument.

We tune down to get the lower pitch in your bass. SO MANY BANDS PLAY IN EB. Sabbath, Alice N Chains, A perfect Circle, Yes, Early Genesis, Smashung Pumpkins (meloncholly) some Nirvana, Alot of Soundgarden, Not to mention c# standard or drop B tunings. Also, a HUGE reason for this is to play in a comfortale key for the singer. Lowering the register will help alot of singers who arent good in a higher key. NEVER tell a musician to not do something because u just dont like tuning your guitar. U should absolutely experiment. U will be surprised at the inspiration it gives u evn if u think not. Music is all about creativity not copying. Just my 2 cents.

can't you just play different frets on the fret board to get the right notes? like every one keeps talking about learning all the notes on the fret board, why the hell should we do that just to not use that knowledge, do we really have to buy an intire sound system to use our guitar with the computer just so that we can play a couple of songs?
