This is fantastic to see, it brings back wonderful memories. My father who taught me how to bowl used to have me do these drills on floor when I was around 9 or 10, 40 to 41 years ago!

Someone that been bowling for 50 yrs. Told me to practice at home. Trowing it at a couch is what i did.

For me, the reason why I could see this working for me (and new bowlers) is that resting the ball on the carpet and keeping your hand behind the ball facilitates focusing on adding the axis rotation. One huge factor I over looked and was a reality check, I have weak wrists, so I am now doing exercises to strengthen my wrist so that I can position the ball when I send it, like in this video, during my normal approach. It was silly of me to think I could position a 16lb ball like this in my hand right at the beginning, hope this tip helps.

Would be extremely helpful to show an extremely slow motion view of how the thumb clears and the rolees on to the fingers at the point of release, next to the ankle of slide foot.

Do your fingers roll the ball too ? Like as they come out are you apply pressure inside the ball to roll it if that makes sense

That’s all I hear. “Just let it go, lift the fingers.” What?! If I just lift the fingers when it’s on the side like that, I throw a backup ball. Something is happening with the wrist. It has to.
