SpaceX Boca Chica - SN7 Test Tank - Super Heavy Launch Site Preps

preview_player

Starship SN7 is another test tank, likely made from the new 304L steel rings, and has now been mated ahead of testing. At the launch site, preps for SN5 continue, along with groundwork for the Super Heavy mount next door.

A busy video from Mary with lots of cool things of note (by all means timestamp and note in the comments. Ranges from Test Tank guy with a NASA t-shirt (worm too, so clearly a great guy), to Bang bang bang on the test tank to Super Heavy launch mount preps!

Ah, yes, at 10:46 we can clearly see the human sacrifices that are sealed inside of every Starship to ensure the vehicle has a strong machine spirit and operates efficiently.

New fresh stand😍
New fresh Starships😍
New focus on the Starship project
With everything going on in 2020 we need that kind of excitement and hype
Thanks @NASASpaceflight and Mary for the amazing footage

That;s a hell of a commitment to the design if SpaceX is mixing in Super heavy parts into the manufacturing process already. Amazing!!! Thanks Mary👍🚀🚀🚀👍

This is gunna be NUTS. I can only imagine a massive super heavy tank roll out of the 81m high bay. The pace is really picking up. Thanks Mary for all the amazing footage, we all love ya ♥️😁

Thank you Mary. While they were drilling the foundation hole I thought it would be most ironical if oil started gushing out!!

My favorite thing is when they sleeve the tanks. And partake in the time honored tradition of getting something to fit by slapping the hell out of it. Just spank the tank

It is great to actually Get to see them drill for the ground stabilization for the Pad

What's with the spikes on that SN7 test fuel tank? Just trying to understand the engineering purpose it could serve. Thx for the hours put in filming all this Mary!

With the rapid advancement to sealing the new SN7 as a test tank for the new 304L Steel, I wonder if we will see SN& testing separately ahead of the SN6?

Watching construction of the superheavy pad it occurred to me, if it's the full setup as shown in the renders, just what a mega-structure it's going to be. It'll make even the next 81m highbay look tiny. The SpaceX renders show the launch pad doing the stacking so does that mean it's going to have an integrated crane capable of stacking a 120m high starship+booster? With the clearances needed I would think that would mean a structure of 130 - 140m high. My guess though is that they won't build a full tower with stacking crane on this test stand, at least initially. I would have though that they want the minimum fixed infrastructure on the test stands since that gives less to be destroyed and rebuilt if there's another SN4-type event. Probably stacking Starship onto Superheavy with rented mega-cranes for the first tests until they are confident that there is minimal risk of an explosion on the stand?

If this test tank is made of 304L steel, I wonder if it's thinner than 301? It looks like the weld buckling is more pronounced as on the previous SN's.
