SpaceX Boca Chica - Huge New Tank Delivered - SN7.1 Burst Test Preps

preview_player
Показать описание
A massive new propellant tank was delivered to the launch site, and it's not one of the three that have been stored at the old gas well lot for a while now. A common dome was sleeved overnight, a beautiful new thrust dome was outside briefly, and SN7.1 was readied to be moved off of Pad B ahead of its potentially destructive burst test.

It's about to get (even more) busy in the days to come. SN7.1 pop. SN8 move. SN8 nosecone mate. Static Fires, etc. Make sure you're subbed to the channel!

It is truly rare for big money to pair up with passion and know how. Texas is one of those magical crucibles of human spirit coupled with someone willing to fuel it. That Boca Chica complex is shaping up beautifully. The human creative energy going in there is a thing of beauty.

This has to be the best documented build site ever.

Nice of you showing the shipping label on that 304L roll. From that we can know 1) how tall each ring is—1828 millimeters, 2) how thick the sheet is—3.96 millimeters, 3) how heavy each ring is—from the reported density of 304L and the dimensions above—1637 kilograms, 4) how many rings can be made from each roll—7.

Mary and Jack, that morning montage was SPECTACULAR!

Bobcats playing in the mud, tankers and concrete trucks, long sarens vehicle, gassing up and venting and a hugh new tank, Bluezilla napping Dawn and Evening scenes but wait, there's even a thrust dome and more on the High Bay. It's all action with people lining the entrance and cheeky Jack labels. Hope Mary gets some sleep sometime. Great one team!

2:49 The label for the roll of 304L stainless steel lists the thickness of the steel as 3.96 millimeters or 0.1557 inches. To get and idea of how thick that is, make a stack three dimes--the height of a stack of three dimes is almost exactly 3.96 millimeters. For non-American viewers, a dime is a US coin equivalent to a tenth of a dollar (sorry, I don't know how to do this using Euro coins). The manufacturer is Otokumpu, a Finnish international company that specializes in stainless steel. Otokumpu has a steel plant in Calvert, Alabama, to service the North American market, which is noted on the label (upper left corner) as the source of the steel.

I don't know who gets up so early in the morning to do the sunrise time lapse, but huge kudos to you! They are consistently my favorite clips on YouTube. What a beautiful way to start a video!

Well done again Mary some fantastic footage, you can defiantly see the better construction in the welding, it’s now looking like a prototype not just a project. People around the world like me really do enjoy these videos and it’s something I wouldn’t be able to see for myself being over 5000 miles away in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 the uk 🇬🇧 can’t wait for next episode 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Makes sense to potentially damage a transport stand as opposed to a launch stand.
Assuming a thrust pressure test went well with the simulator prior to now.

Thanks again to everyone for these. Glad the SpaceX crew are acepting of Mary's efforts (until the fences are done at least), heard the odd "Hi Mary" as they drive by in their various modes of transport :D

I love the things I learn about construction by watching these updates. I had no idea that there would be independent axles at the rear of a large tank transporter - makes perfect sense, but I"d've never thought of it. As for Bluezilla, I think that the roofing can't be put down until the siding is on and leaving the crane erect for any period of time could be dangerous in unanticipated winds, etc. Again, great videography.
