Показать описание
SN7.1's burst test that failed to end in failure of the test tank and so it gets to live a bit longer. SN5 and 6 were moved into the High Bay, potentially due to high winds, new legs and a new downcomer were delivered. Work on the High Bay continues and a common dome section was prepared for flipping.

I am working at construction of Power Plant as lead material Inspector. We use 304L/304 steel excessively in the high pressure and extreme heat area. It is very durable under high pressure and high heat area. Here we mostly use low carbon variant of 304 i.e. 304L (even though 304 is structurally slightly stronger than 304L) because 304L alloy’s has lower carbon content which helps to minimize/eliminate carbide precipitation during the welding process and it degrade much slower. Carbon content in 304 is 0.08 and 304L is 0.03. The higher carbon content make 304 slightly stronger but the same thing make it degrade much faster at weld joint in severe corrosive environment. So I think they are using low carbon variant in Starship even though they have to give-up little bit of strength and using 304L eliminates the need to anneal weld joints prior to using the completed metal form—saving time, effort and whole process which delay the project and it became costly coz they need to do it in each and every weld no matter the size. Its Spacex and "The best process is no process"- Elon Musk.

Thank you for the new views of the legs - yet again angles and details we've never seen before. I'm endlessly fascinated by how these work - except now rather confused because reality may not match the design I'd deduced. Mary, thank you for bringing us details like this. And - stay dry and healthy, we don't want to miss the elerons going on in a few days.
