Wouldn't the slats need to be pressed firmly against the wall for some time, in order for the grab adhesive to set?

What's the solution for this without using nails etc?

Currently doing this myself! Can I glue the slats onto an mdf plasterboard then glue/nail that onto the wall? Or would I need to add the support battens?
