It's fascinating just how many of these rules are universal. Respecting and revering the elders, only using the right hand, having different "tribes", leaving your shoes at the door entrance/outside.

Point to a random spot on the map and 9 times out of 10 they will exhibit most, if not all, of these traits

Great! I would say even when it comes to receiving something, you want to avoid receiving anything that is being offered to you with your left hand. Always receive with your right hand. Receiving or offering with your left hand is perceived rude, and traditionally parents have forced their kids to feed using their right hand even if they are left handed (I know modern parents who are becoming less strict on that).
