just turned 30. Due to circumstances out of my control, I had to start over from scratch at the beginning of this year. New career, new city, new home and zero savings. only thing that I can say is a big plus is I am almost have no debts. This channel is really a big factor in the fact that I am somewhat confident that I can still make it and achieve any financial goals even though I feel I am having a really late start compared to other people I know.
Thanks Chelsea. ❤TFD

Dude, people in their 30s complaining about being old is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. I got hit by a car at 28 and experienced true fragility for the first time. I am really grateful I experienced the contrast between healthy and injured so starkly, because I learned such a deep appreciation for everything my body can do and how valuable it is, mentally, physically, emotionally, to be as fit as you're able. Without the shocking before/after experience, I'm not sure I wouldn't just become a victim of the slow decline into a sedentary life where every year comes with an additional few kg of fat replacing muscle. I heard someone say their traumatic injury and recovery was a preview of old age, and I couldn't agree more. It's so important to stave off fragility and not think that vitality and fitness are things you have no control over. Coming back from being so broken, I can vouch for the body's incredible ability to reverse damage and get strong. At 34, I am the fittest I've ever been and I feel better than I did at 24, physically and mentally. Even considering the limitations I have as a result of my injuries.

Now that I'm leaving my 30s, it's been fantastic! Establishing financial discipline early is crucial. You'll likely have more disposable income, but also increased financial responsibilities.

How on earth did you know I was having an existential crisis today about turning 30 in April. 😥

I turned 50 this summer and still don't feel "old." Though I have been actively reminding myself that given overall family history I am over halfway through life. Which means I am making sure even moreso to do all the things I want to do and stop saying later or maybe someday.

I'm 32 as of this September, but turning 30 was really a slap in the face. It was a completely unceremonious day, puncuated by nothing but a trip to the DMV to renew my license and tags. The one friend I had made plans with to celebrate bailed on me, and my family all live out of state and are pretty emotionally distant, so I really had to sit with myself and think about many of the things you mentioned here, from who I choose to associate with, to what my future would hold in terms of career and finances. Your segment about inertia is truly on point, since it took a lot of struggling through repeated disappointments and the universe going from wispering to shaking my shoulders and screaming in my face to make a lot of important changes. I'm happy to say that in just two years, virtually everything in my life has turned around for the better, and although it didn't come without some serious trials or any cost, I don't have so many regrets or hangups about my choices now.

I turn 32 this year and despite ~ the state of the world ~, I really feel like my life has improved so much in my 30's so far! I have prioritized my mental, emotional, financial, and physical health. I've invested in my relationships and re-evaluated my priorities. I'm happier than ever and I still feel like I have so many opportunities to improve my life even more. Aging is scary but I try to remember that it's a blessing to be alive and to make decisions about my future that align with my values. Thank you so much for this video!!

I’m turning 33 in December and thanks to TFD I’m at my pinnacle of savings investing and earnings, with no debt except for my mortgage. It’s hasn’t been easy getting here but it’s been worth it. 32 was the hardest year bec buying a house was the most stressful and expensive thing I’ve ever purchased. Hopefully 33 will be better!

thank you for unshaming the comparison trap of personal finance. there are so many creators on YouTube telling people here are xx number of things you should do by 40, and... it's so discouraging. it will take me years to get to debt free, and that's okay. I'm always working on it, so your kind words are encouraging!

Omg!! The advice on jeans!! I literally got so depressed from trying on multiple pairs of jeans the other day because none worked. Excited to try this advice! Also, another great video! Really appreciated! Thank you! :)

As a 26 year old more recently I started thinking more and more about where I would like to be financially when I'm 30. I've made some huge shifts, but anywho- I deeply appreciate this kind of content. Thank you!

i turn 30 next year, and just had my 29th birthday yesterday here in australia. this is so timely! the part about ageing and "feeling old" is so true. i nearly died a few times in hospital in 2020 at 25, after getting a stomach tumour removed. so i know how short life can be, and don't give a fuck about aging now like tiktok (that i dont actually have) seems to shove down people's throats.

I feel like another "don't" for finances in your 30s is don't get into the wrong marriage

Man the comment about having zero debt vs 100k+ in student loan debt for the same exact degree and starting salary just made me feel so seen. In our video earlier this year I got so positive comments but the negative ones were really going for the jugular. And learning to compare my progress to my former self has been so helpful. Thank you, Chelsea.
