Mathematically, winds higher than 179 is a cat 6

This is like the year I lived in Melbourne FL and we got smacked with Frances, Jean and Ivan all within weeks of each other. It was surreal

We are wondering how the people in hospitals get evacuated?

DON'T WAIT! Get out now. I know you may not find any hotel rooms - see if you can camp in with inland friends or relatives. Getting in a car on Wednesday when Milton makes landfall is NOT going to save you from possibly drowning in your own car! You can start over from nothing if need be, tough as it is to face, when Milton ends. But you have no future at all if you're dead. At least 230 have died - thus far that we know of - in Hurricane Helene. I'm sure a lot of people thought they were ready for Helene just like they think they'll be ready for Hurricane Milton.

No disrespect but how can people live somewhere they know is going to beaten to death every year? I hope everyone will be OK.

I live in Punta Gorda in SW Florida.
The local weather forecast is 30-40 mph winds and lots of rain. Pretty routine stuff for this area...

Ready made missiles still line communities on the west coast of FL. I’m not trying to sell fear but this is scary. If you pray, pray hard, and if you don’t typically pray, pray hard. GLTA!

Sandbags aren't going to do dwiddly squat when rheres a 12 foot storm surge unless that wall of sandbags are at least 12.5 feet up and snd down rhe coast which it won't

I want to be more sympathetic than I actually am. We know this is going to happen and yet we act surprised when it does and are supposed to feel sorry. If you know the train is coming, don’t build your house on the tracks.

If any trees can fall on your home, those trees should not exist to endanger you and yours. Many people let trees grow too tall then face major arborist bills because they forget to look up or think their special tree won't take them out. Helene just killed many people due to tree impacts on homes. No tree? No problem which is why I dropped all mine having learned from Hurricane Hugo.
