In a revealing conversation in the Revenge of the Sith novelization, when Anakin visits Padme to tell her about the Jedi rebellion, C-3PO expressed his confusion over recent events to R2-D2, who simply responded, “I don’t know. Anakin doesn’t talk to me anymore,” just before he accompanied Anakin to Mustafar. There, Anakin would not return to his droid companion, a casualty often forgotten in the shadow of his dark legacy.

R2-D2 is the heart and soul of the Star Wars series of movies. R2 has been my favorite character in them since I saw the first movie the first time, 40+ years ago.

I think part of why people forget that is because of most droids regular mind wipes, and while that doesn't happen to R2, the fact that he doesn't speak doesn't really do anything to help remind us of this fact.

Vader looks over at the droid, slowly realizing the droid is asking that directly to - him. Vader pauses, in shock, recognizin this specific R2 - because it knows That would have a cool site.
