In order to change, you may need to grieve.

Grab yourself a coffee and let's chit chat! We're trying out a very minimalist format today (shot on my iPhone 12 mini) as I talk about dealing with change through the grieving process.

I'm still working through my own changes and letting go slowly of who I have been in order to reach the next rung in my ladder. It's simultaneously exciting and melancholy, which makes it all the more confusing.

DAY 28 of daily videos! :)

"The truth of the matter is change requires some destruction. In order to evolve, one must also no longer be what it once was."

Saved in my library of obvious yet fundamental wisdom.

Growth is right outside your comfort zone so they say. I find this to be true. And change does require some disruption, and then you’ll find equilibrium again.

"Nobody cares about you like you."

This quote is a fact that I've lived through it. Whenever I think about it - or hear it from someone else like here - I both get sad and happy. Thanks for this video, amazing as always.

I love how you are impersonally personal. You are referring to a subject that is clearly deeply personal, yet you present it without exposing any personal or intimate details. Additionally, you are compassionate so that anybody can relate to what you are talking about and I always say to myself "how did she know I needed to hear that today?!". It is really refreshing to see someone like you in our overexposed society. Feels like you have found the right balance between oversharing and being authentic.

P.S. The timing of this vid could not have been better as I am going through a major transition in my life ;)

You're letting go of your van. I'm letting go of my baby grand piano I've own for 45 years. It's served me well but now I'm downsizing and needs to move on to a new home. I recognize the stages of grief with this process too that you mention.

This video is just what I needed right now. Trying to move on from a semi-rough patch. Finding it hard. But i guess that is the part of the grieving process, at the end of which there is a potential of evolution.
Thank you for the insight, Lefie.

Don't forget that the stages of grieving aren't a guide. They come and go in and out of order. It will happen that you will emotionally "regress" to a previous stage you think you may have "completed" and that's normal. You're doing great to be present and note what you feel down. The most positive change still comes with grieving. Humans just like that.

I read a lovely book once that was talking about transformation and evolution and she compared our personal transformations to that of a butterfly. What stuck with me was “The caterpillar that goes into the cocoon never comes out alive.” It has a breakdown and turns into a pile of proverbial goo, before it can evolve. Things have to breakdown to restructure anew and that’s hard!
Sometimes when trudging through my own changes and moving through my hella resistance I just think “This is the proverbial goo and it will eventually take shape.” That leap of faith is what’s hard for me. But we gotta go through a release before we can bring in new things. And I’m right there with ya Lefie! 🦋

This video is really helpful as I'm currently quitting my PhD program and grieving the ideal person/job and the effort/time I've spent so far.

nobody cares about you like you but the cycles and patterns we go through are universal. So it's not selfish to share this kind of things. it's inspiring :)

I’m trans and I’ve gone through this somewhat throughout my transition. I do not miss the person who I was at all, but I still went through a grieving period because I know that person did their best to get me where I am today despite all their faults and burdens. In a way, that person was sort of a protective shell for me once I was ready to show my true self and for that I am grateful, but I do not need them anymore. 😄

"We are ultimately responsible for our own happiness ". This is where I'm grieving and so digging down deep to find inner peace to get thru the outer world situation without the need to grieve.

Even though the message of that video is very valuable, the thing about it that helps me the most is to see someone else blushing. I always think it's only happening to myself, which makes you feel very embarassed, incapable and isolated ^^

Anger is mostly a secondary emotion to fear. To recognize that shows well developed emotional maturity on your part....but we all knew that about you already.
