Chris, even thought about the Barbell Hack Squat? Of course I know you are familiar with the Barbell Hack Squat.
I Put the Bar on the ground, add weight and place the bar behind your legs instead of in front of me... it looks like a deadlift behind the body/legs actually instead of in front! Also, I always add something under the heels (like tiny weights plates or an other surface) to raise the heels and emphsize the quadriceps a little more!

Landmine hack squat--look it up! Probably the closest you can get to hack squat machine.

It feels like the minor exercises (isolation exercises) target the muscles more than the compound exercises.

The wall squat with your upper back glutes and heels touching the wall is pretty good

My back is fucked, degenerative disc disease lower spine, l can’t even put an Olympic bar on my back, but l can pick a 100lb dumbbell and do sets of 15 no problem.

He didn’t invent the Lumberjack Squat. I saw that in gyms in early 1990s. I switched off after he claimed that.

Maybe even place the weight between your legs, hanging from a belt (preferably one with soft edges, like Ironmind Hip squat belt). But then theres the hassle with depth.
Anyways, this hits your legs from a different angle than ordinary squats and most ppl dont really need a super heavy load. A commercial gym dumbbell paired with something like a couple step up boards, might be enough... Or you could just build stacks of plates, to stand on. But then theres the possibility of upsetting the other gym members.
