Thanks for putting this video up, just about to order the gear for my own net and you've taught me a lesson the easy way. Thank you!

Gotta get some 550 cord...aka type III Nylon

Nylon all day, also 550 is probably too thin, try the 1100 size.. you can also look into dyneema, Kevlar and other hmpe cordage, but uv is going to be hard on anything. Just be careful and inspect anything you're going to hang on..

I used to live in travel on a sailboat and oddly enough, all of my black line (rope) and black zip ties held up better in the sun than any other colors.

You should use white chords as it absorbs the least light and use a thicker paracord

I thought that polyester is better in the sun/outdoors

We grew up putting Manila ropes in the Eucalyptus trees and living the Tarzan life. The 2" and bigger lasts a long time under kid load jumping out of trees but they definitely will let you down. Ouch. Watch anything you put your trust in.

All that powder is microplastics. And we wonder how this stuff gets into the soil and our lungs?

That's not polyester. That's polypropalene. Polyester is actually better than nylon when it cones to UV protection. Make sure that your 550 paracord states 100% nylong. This includes the sheathe. These were obviously not. As to color fading, son exposure is going to do that. The good thing about Nylon is its strength isn't going to be compromised. I've had 550 paracord sent in son under tension for up to 12 months and they are just fine. Color fading is only issue.

UV rays are very strong and plastics without additives dont do well

Those cords that deteriorated are probably polypropylene, not polyester.
