Why Do Baby Crested Geckos Need Small Tanks?

This is something people had a lot of concern over last time I covered baby gecko tanks.

They are also so tiny when they are born!!!! You must insure they are eating and pooping correctly before they can go to a bigger set up. Very important with babies!

Same! That's how I've kept the baby snakes and toads. All the pretty doesn't help if they can't find food, or the food populates the tank corners, you can't easily monitor skin and weight condition, maintain controlled light/humidity, or gods forbid you can't find the little twerp without dismantling the whole environment. I much prefer knowing where the food is, what got eaten, what got pooped out. There are so many more air currents, dry spots, wet hidey holes, etc in an open environment.

your baby seems to be doing very well with handling, good work! i work daily with my leachie, and new caledonian geckos are just a joy to hold when they become comfortable with handling.

A lot of people will never understand a lot of these thrive in confined spaces an will die if you put in a large or to big a cage. Take ball pythons for instance if you take a pair an out in a 4’ foot or 6’ enclosure they most likely won’t breed because they are not happy. Put them in rack system an they make babies if you know what I’m saying. Be nice to everyone an take care friends

I hear of this Alot, but I haven't seen any stunting of growth at least after 7-10 grams being put into a large enclosure hasn't slowed down growth rate.

When doing research on this while getting a crestie so many people said "ThEy hAvE iNfIniTe sPaCe In NaTUre!", so I'm happy videos like this exist XD

Also for that tiny of a baby it doesn't even seem that small, perfect for monitoring them, making sure they eat and still giving them space to run a bit.
