“I thought I was a beast benching 225lbs in 8th grade.” You WERE a beast, Dane!

So, basically this is just basic lifting information. Stay consistent by going to the gym, intensity in workouts and try to increase the load each week and diet and sleep/recovery. This is just common sense. The information is not hard, folks. Its being consistent in all those things. Thats the hard part.

OK this is how to “bounce bench”.

Do you have any programs for “strict” benching? Like for competition?

when you say X amount of reps, what kind of reps are you talking about? 3 reps at 90% RM are not similar to 10 reps at 70%

This is a silly formula... you take a 130 lb kid doing 135, getting him to 225 is a lot different that taking a 200lber to the same number. And 405 bench is just not achievable for all, let alone 405. Consistency, volume form and linear progression in training all work but not all lifters are built the same.

I love the concept here. Would love to see the regression analysis behind the numbers. Are you factoring in both in-person and app-based athletes? Also as a couple others pointed out, when we're talking about reps, what percentage are they at? Reps over 80% 1RM or maybe just reps in an "hard sets" as Nuckols argued for (at some point in the last 5 years)

99% of the population isn’t capable of benching 500 lbs no matter how they train or for how long or what they take etc.

Man, I hate to see ppl bounce the bar off the chest. Are you really controlling the weight?

So for someone with a 1 rep max of 205 getting to 225 requires 336 reps at approximately 185 (about 80% of 225), right?

I’m 5’4 150. Can only bench 100kg /220lbs. How realistic is a 405 bench. Would I need to gain 50lbs body weight to even dream of touching it?

i injured my back with high volume squats and deadlifts and rotated to swapping deadlifts out with rdls and keeping light squats. the extra recovery/energy i get from not fatiguing from heavy squats and deadlifts has transferred well into my bench recently. By eating a ton, benching 4-5x a week, and keeping the squats light, ive brought my bench up from 225 for a max to 275 in about 3 weeks. Looking to hit 315 in a month. currently weighing 205lbs at 6'4 and bench close grip for reference. TL;DR: Hyperfocusing on bench and eating a ton will blast your bench up, 1-2x a week on bench is simply too low.

I'm up to 435. I weigh 222. Watching this video my first goal is trying to hit 450

Dude. 99% of the general population who even goes to the gym, watching this, and has access to a gym working from home will NOT bench 500lbs.

It's not just training time. Everyone will plateau at a particular bodyweight. If you're not prepared to add body mass with a calorie surplus, you'll be stuck.

Every 168 reps, I blow out my shoulder. At that rate, how do you suggest I make it to 225?

I pyramid up to 360lbs every 3 to 4 days and i put on 5lbs on my bench every week to 2 max
