Last week i shot an entire riding scene purely on the Insta360 One X2. This week we have a look at how i did it, the angles i used, and if i think it's a worthy motovlogging camera.

Been using the Insta 360onex2 as a main vlogging camera for a while now, really impressed with the camera. For duel audio we've been using the audio adapter and the RODE Wireless Go2. So far the set up has proved way more reliable than my Glitchy Gopro cameras.

Anyone notice that 360 clip resolution gets butchered by Youtube even if I export in 4K? I can't seem to find a way around this. And this is on processed video with other video sources that look good. So for example, my Galaxy Note 9 footage is crisp but my 360 footage is pixelated (only after uploading to Youtube). :o( The footage looks so good then YT pixelates it for some reason. I'm using a GoPro 360 with Hitfilm Pro to edit it.

Here’s another placement that I used in this initial test of my X2. It’s mounted to a steering column ball mount. I reframe a bit, especially at the beginning, but I mostly use it to get the front view including the instrument console displaying speed, lean angle, RPM, brake pressure, etc. Here it has the advantage of being continuously powered by my USB port.

I use the software on my PC and it let's me export at whatever resolution and bitrate I choose. It's not going to magically make everything better, but I find 1440p with a wide view at 28 mbps is a good compromise. Also, for viewing angle, you can lock the angle of view so unless you physically are turning the camera, it will always point the same direction while you edit.

If you get the Max Lens Mod for the Hero9/10 you can use Horizon Leveling to 'lock' vertical video. Just hold the GoPro vertically and start recording then turn the camera back to horizontal and it will continue to record vertically.

A tip maybe you know. When you use insta360 on your computer. Before you save it to your computer. You can change resolution from 1080 x 1920 to 2160 x 3840. Just change the numbers. You can’t change fps but you can change the resolution from the app on your computer

Hey! You can export in 4K in the desktop version… I find it more easy to do everything there

also the lock direction function will lock the direction of the view, using the gyro data. so it will follow your head or your initial direction you set up
