When I was a child, I watched a movie about "kings and queens". I heard the name Plantagenet in the dialog, and it fascinated me. Little did I know it was the beginning of a life long fascination with medevial British history.

As a Shia Muslim I absolutely love these documentaries…. To see the equipment they used, their documentation, their stringent dedication to write history.

If you folks are interested, I highly Recommend you look up the battle of imam Hussain in Karbala..

It is so important to keep these men of history and stories alive…. So much to learn from

It's fascinating that you find a strong king followed by a weak one, then followed by another strong one.

«Les Plantagenêts» are a French noble family from Anjou, they used to place a genêt ( a yellow plant ) at the collar of their dress and clothes to tell the others they were part of the same family, that’s the reason why they’ve been called “Les Plantagenêts”.. and then they took the English crown as a vassal family of the French monarchy..

What an amazing way our species had organized itself into a hierarchy and long after the Plantagenets we still have an incredible example of monarchy today very similar to ones of the past which allows us in for some great history and learning in a sense of real-time.

I love this channel and the history channel, such good history and I majored in English literature and Veterinary medicine and research, my professor tried to get me to add history, I was on 4 scholarships and carrying 15 to 20 credit courses a quarter and managed to make the Dean's list every year and got sick my final semester and lost a great deal of weight and for a year could not get well so I left and went to Washington State to see my grandson and started to feel better until summer and I passed out on the street as it was 111degrees and no ac.

Actually, Edward ll was a ruler who practiced favoritism and that was the main cause of his downfall:First, he put Gaveston under his wings and showered him with gifts and positions, yet Gaveston's tragic end didn't teach Edward any lesson ; the king started another episode of favoritism with Hugh Depenser whom he made the real rulers of his kingdom. A king in medieval era had to be a partial monarch by being the sovereign of all people and running the land with iron hands, like Edward l, who achieved great things during his reign and didn't allow usurpers and traitors to remove him from his throne. That's my modest opinion on Edward ll 's reign.

The end of the War of the Roses was because we trasplanted the rose gardens from each opposing gardens to their oppositions.
Thus replelling each other from each others gardens. Strange how they work. Took us 100 years to fighure it out.

I feel like a solution to the whole "we don't want the English king being subservient to the French king" thing could have been solved by giving the French king an estate in England where he would have been a vassal of the English king. Then either everyone would agree not to do the vassal thing or no one would have to.
