It doesn't work on my phone
Because all that trick does is clear the RAM, not the open apps.
The apps are all still open, they're just required to reload due to the RAM having been cleared.
This is a good trick to making your phone run a little faster, but does absolutely nothing for closing apps.

Although some phones/roms already had it as you say, Android Nougat now has a Clear All option if you scroll to the top of the list!

The trick with pressing and hold the powerbutton and press and hold the home button does not work on my updated 6S. The 3 finger trick, works though.
