When I first watched this movie, I thought putting a black and white filter over Feyd’s intro scenes was just an out of universe artistic choice. Realizing that’s actually how Geidi Prime looks in universe was pretty crazy

Feyd's intro was the best ive seen in a long time. His villainous tendencies are written on his face and the Bene Gesserait reveal and utilize his weaknesses, making him an even more realistic villain. Im not a big movie goer and i dont like being a critic but Dune 1/2 were some of the best movies ive watched since John Wick, least in the theaters

The sun is also why the Harkonnens are bald. The infrared diminishes color but enhances contrast, making the Harkonnens hell bent on purity (this came from one of the interviews). As a result baldness became the preferred hairstyle, just like how rat tail was the preferred hairstyle of Qing dynasty

Giedi prime was once a lush green world, harkonen industrial output, out of control, destroyed the environment, that's why it looks like that.

Feyd Ratha's is literally one of the best sociopath/psychopath in movies. His introduction was excellent, especially when he just nonchalantly and quietly stabbed one of his assistants to death to test the knife's sharpness.

The picadors, wandering around the fight, emitting guttural clicks were extremely unearthly. The music in this scene helped make the nightmare complete.

Geidi Prime was most likely a brown dwarf (black sun) which kicks out warmth but not much light. Those outdoor scenes are reminiscent of what you would see if you were observing via a thermal scope with white set to hot (IR radiation)

I'm pretty sure the book mentions the planet used to have plants and looked green. It turned black due to the uncontrolled pollution cause by the over industrial process done.
Maybe I was reading the wrong Mickey Mouse book about 2 decades ago.

I’m glad the director went from trying to make a shot by shot remake to something more unique. The harkonnen home world, Feyed not being scared of his uncle, Chani and her view of Paul’s ascent

It was actually Greig Fraser, the cinematographer's idea to use the infrared cameras, he's actually the genius behind many scenes in the movie and won the academy award for the last film, hope he wins this year as well along with all the other genuises behind this masterpiece, one of the best films ever produced within 2 decades. I hope it also wins best picture but knowing the academy, they're probably gonna choose some boring ass drama😑
