I’m 73 in a few days, so been around awhile. When I was @ 20, I accidentally walked into the South entrance of Central Park in NYC one evening only to find Joni opening for Arlo Guthrie (small free concert). It was her debut in the USA. She was so shy she didn’t face the audience. Sang with her back to us! Oh sweet angel voice! I’ve been hooked ever since.

Joni Mitchell doesn't just sing a song. She uses her voice as an instrument to play amazing jazz!

"We love our loving, but not like we love our freedom." One of the greatest lines of poetry ever written.

Who's hasn't fallen in love with Joni during the 70's. Court And Spark is a masterpiece of Joni's work, as is her entire catalog of work. We love you Joni!!! Thank you Jamal!

There is no problem that can't be solved by listening to Joni Mitchell. "Both Sides Now, " "Big Yellow Taxi, " "The Circle Game, " "California, " "River." Anything off Hejira.

Joni is the QUEEN. PERIOD. Her lyrics, melodies, and chord structures are unparalleled. UNPARALLELED.

In the jazz community, she's considered an incredibly important artist. She did an entire album in honor of the jazz great, Charles Mingus. The complexity of her vocal phrasing is way beyond what we typically hear in most pop artists and the structure of her songs reflects this complexity. There was no album or song of hers that failed to surprise on some level. She's an incredible talent.

"Didn't it feel good when we were sitting there talking,
or lying there not talking? Didn't it feel good?"

I love this song.

It's been said - *_"When a man meets Joni Mitchell - he falls in love with her."_* She is one of the most unique people of the last century. She had the smarts - the talents - the personality - the voice - and a genius wit. To meet her was to love her. She has had more A List lovers than finger and toes. Lots of songs are written about her - lots - but my favorite is Fountain of Sorrow by Jackson Brown. Her album - BLUE - is ranked as the 30th most important album of the rock era - and the highest ranking by a woman.

Growing up in the 70's, I was blessed to hear this song when it hit the airwaves. Every time we turned on the radio a new song was blasting out to us. What a wonderful time for the tracks of our lives.

20 years from now when I look back on the pandemic, I'm gonna remember how Jamel's natural joy helped get us through.

Led Zeppelin’s “ Going to California” is apparently a tribute to Joni Mitchell. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were quite taken with the girl with flowers in her hair who plays guitar, cries and sings.

The first time I heard this song was Thursday July 4, 1974. I was watching fireworks from the backseat of my parent's car. This was playing on the radio. I was in heaven watching both the fireworks and hearing this amazing song! It made a life-long impression on me! I get whisked right back to the wonderful carefree days of 1974 each time I hear it! Thanks! :)
