iXsystems has announced TrueNAS SCALE, a new addition to the TrueNAS software family. SCALE uses much of the same TrueNAS 12.0 source code but adds a few different twists, like scalability enhancements. The source code for the TrueNAS SCALE is already available on GitHub and under very active development. Over the next quarter, the company plans to provide more detailed information about the architecture, download links to the installation images, and more details on how to get involved for collaboration. Until then, this excerpt of our recent podcast with Kris Moore from iXsystems covers the highlights of what SCALE will bring to the table.

This is exciting stuff. ZFS converged dev on BSD and Linux has really opened up the door for FreeNAS to branch across to Linux. Nice.

One question comes to mind... how were the IPA beverages that Kris brought you?
