Roomie got into D4 closed. I think it looks awesome. I love the size of the world, the abundance of quests and objectives, a large number of dungeons (some HUGE, some minor 2 room quick-clears. As long as they continue with their promise that real world cash buys cosmetics only, I'm all in on release day.

One thing that made diablo 1 so impactful was that it was a new world. you felt like a "normal" warrior/rogue/sorceress/monk in a normal medieval fictional world, but then you uncover some dark occult secrets, with more sinister and twisted enemies and level design as you make your way down to the source.

When you got d2 (and even more after d3) it seemed like oh yeah demons and monsters are totally normal and there's tons of lore about it and they do obvious demon/bad guy stuff.

The part where demons rising from hell is not normal and actually terrifying was the good part of diablo1, diablo 2 made was an ok sequel, but the focus was on "oh look at all these bad guys" instead of having a few good ones with a human story to relate to. Not that I think they could've done much different and I did play a ton of D2. not so much d3/immortal/d2remaster

12:22 I think we're not seeing the forest for the trees here...if he doesn't know the game fully, it's a moot point that you can, theoretically, get ahead with just experience; but if someone is there to play the game, and buy stuff that'll make him "strong", well that's the same theory, only on the other side of the fence. So the tournament doesn't prove anything, other than the fact that you can still buy things that'll increase your overall abilities.

The problem with seasons being too close to launch, is players don't get to chew into the meat of the game and learn/master the basics before being catapulted into a fresh start with new content. If D2R had seasons at launch, then there really would have been no reason for ANYONE to start non-ladder; if seasons were only 1-2 months post launch, there would also not have been a reason to really dig into playing hard at launch. D4 will be completely new, and I feel it would be a mistake to have seasons be any earlier than 3 months post-launch. You need to give the player base a chance to actually play the game, and discover the basics of each of the classes before throwing them into a reset with new content.

Just not sold on the D2R seasons, but I'm primarily a solo player that does not want to grind out hundreds of runs for specific items, nor do I have time for it. I pulled over many of my items found in D2 and roam around in solo.
