Diablo 4: The Untold Tragic Fall of Rathma (The First Necromancer)

Показать описание
This is the tragic full history of Rathma, the First Necromancer, Student of Trag’Oul, and the Firstborn Son of Lilith and Inarius, one of Diablo’s most enigmatic characters, outlining his meteoric rise & tragic fall, plus the crucial role he plays during the events of Diablo 4

Rathma’s story begins after the creation of Sanctuary by rogue angels and demons, led by Inarius and Lilith.

Firstborn of Sanctuary
After absconding from Pandemonium with the Worldstone, and creating the world we will come to know as Sanctuary, the rogue angels and demons would engage in procreation, an act viewed as blasphemous by both sides of The Eternal Conflict, for the union of the two resulted in the birth of a new creature, the Nephalem, born of the flesh of demons, and the spiritual essence of angels, their souls a perfect blend of the two, balanced… in every way…

It is noted that the first born Nephalem, of even those that would come to be known as “Firstborn,” was Linarian, and was born to Lilith and Inarius. Ironic that a Nephalem born to the greatest of the rogue armies would go on to become the patron saint of the protectors of The Balance…

Apologies on the re upload. Had a hiccup during the render.

I adore the idea of a main antagonist being, not just a corrupter and destroyer, but of a mother, fighting for the survival of something she created, that maybe she doesnt even understand

As someone that has always loved the necromancer class, I really love Rathma’s lore.

Man really ended his first legitimate Son's life because his son acted more mature than him. Smh
And this is the God figure the people of Sanctuary is worshipping.

For those thinking Lilith only saw rathma as a tool, it's unlikely to be so.
When she adjusts his hands to cover his chest, this is a loving act, plus the change of tone in her voice suggests hurt and pain.
Not to mention the fact she says that whether he chose to side with her or not, he would always have a place by her side, this is supremely loving!
Demons might not feel love the same way as humans, but for those odd exceptions, the way they act comes down to nature and nurture. It might not be the same but it is love, angels experience love too, but I mean let's be honest, it wasn't Lilith or any other demon who killed rathma, it was his father, an angel who showed very little empathy every step of the way when it came to his children and Lilith, everything he did was for the selfish goal of going back to heaven while everything Lilith did was to end the eternal conflict so she and her children could live in peace.
The stuff Lilith did to people was and is horrible, but that is simply how the magic works and the steps needed to be taken to give humanity the advantage again, if inarius hadn't been so selfish, humanity/nephalem wouldn't have to endure centuries of suffering and bloodshed at the hands of the demons... He literally made humans so weak that the demons would do the job for him in whipping out the nephalem.

Lilith's actions are drops in a bucket compared to the bloody downpour inarius has done.

The fact that she says almost the same thing as her uncle is so awesome to me.
Lilith - "Your sacrifice will not have be in vain"
Baal - "My brothers will not have died in vain!"
It seens demons care a little bit for family.

I know Lilith it's an evil demon queen and that it's unlikely that demons are able to feel love... But why would she fake mercy and motherly love when there's no one around to be manipulated by it? That means she did care about Rathma, and she is indeed hurt by his death... As a mother surely would. So Lilith may be many things, but unlike Inarius, she does care about her children... In her own weird and malevolent ways.

I have the Diablo books that have been written by various authors and they are all excellent reads. Been a while but the Sin Wars books is awesome. I hope they make write some more of them with Diablo 4. This universe is so massive that if done by the right authors there would be many more books to come.

When Rathma said "I saw my corpse, and from my mouth crawled Hatred, That is the clue you need to understand who's behind everything. We know who Lord of Hatred is.

I like the idea around Lilith growing to hate Inarius more and more. Imagine, even a mortal mother's grief seeing her firstborn slain by the hands of his deadbeat absentee father? Now imagine that but in a Diablo setting? I really hope we hear more from Lilith or at least see it via cutscenes about how much she cared for Rathma. I would also LOVE for Rathma to return with Tragoul from the in between.

Reading all the books, this was a super hype reveal for me. I've always been a necro main, and it's awesome to finally see the first.

I love these lore videos, refreshing and giving key insides to lore details, that you might have missed in the beta. I also hope there’ll be some kind of involvement from Rathma, in Diablo 4, maybe he gets resurrected or something, having mastered the cycle of death and stuff.

I'm loving the role reversal they are pulling in the story of what we know so far in D4. In D2 we sided with the angels as it seemed so clear cut that Angels and High Heavens = good, Demons and Burning Hells = Bad. We still get that in D3 but we see that some Angels can be bad actors, (Imperius and Malthael, not necessarily evil) and we get some more backstory on Inarius and Lilith in the Reaper of Souls.

In D4 from what we've seen, I view Lilith as relatable and could potentially be a neutral party and Inarius as a fanatical PTSD driven madman, but this is all from act 1. The part where Lilith is mourning her son is where I really started to empathize with Lilith. Learning that Inarius killed him, I immediately thought, "Inarius needs to die". Lilith may not be a good guy but Inarius needs to go.

I have a feeling this game is where Sanctuary and humanity really take their place as the third major player in the Eternal conflict. I've always seen them as the true representation of the original form of Anu before it cast off its imperfections that became Tathamet. This is why the Nephalem have the potential to become more powerful than both Angels and Demons.

Anyway, I love your vids!! Keep up the excellent work!

For what i saw during the beta, i'd say the way Lorath states how he feel (in the "present") about his feelings after meeting our character (trying not to spoil here), and how Lilith acts, that the first villain of diablo IV will be Inarius, then maybe Lilith.

Like maybe afterward she will have some bad projects for humanity, but in the begining of the story she will truly try to save sanctuary and humanity from total destruction.
No matter if it involves the sacrifice of some individuals.

And yeah, after that i think she will basically try to make sanctuary the only realm with living creatures...

Very interesting lore about Rathma. I have not seen Rathma. But I have heard about Rathma, Bul Kathos, uldyssian, and the tales of the crusaders.

Its as if Lilith actually was grieving of Rathma's death. She worded it like he was a tool. But i dont know, seems deeper. Its as if she cared deeper then her words suggest
