The people taking the comment out of context have no clue what they are talking about. Trump was simply stating that the Medal of Freedom is given to Civilians that are ALIVE. The Medal of Honor is given to someone in the military that may or may not be alive, and is most likely a survivor of injuries sustained in combat. He wasn’t belittling anything or anyone.

As a veteran with many different medals, I don’t find it disrespectful. I do think sometimes he tries too hard to convey complex thoughts to low IQ media, and sometimes his point doesn’t exactly translate well. But I also think that anyone with an ounce of critical thinking skills can watch that segment and takeaway that Trump was trying to convey that civilian medal is special, and anyone that takes offense to it is doing so intentionally to victimize themselves because Trump said it. Period.
