In todays video we go to a vertical PTAC, I ended up having to pull it, and I had to open up the wall, and take it to the shop. #hvac #hvactech #hvactechnician #hvaclife #fieldpiece #retroaire #ptac #verticalptac #leak

Here are links to the tools I use, And it costs you nothing extra to buy from this list:

I am still waiting for an authorization 2 days after diagnosing. Unfortunately this line of PTAC has been discontinued. So, repair is the best option.

It’s leak week. I’ve fixed 3 so far this week. One on a evap u bend, one on a condenser discharge line and one above a drop ceiling. They ran the lines across angle iron that ate through the insulation and rubbed through the copper.

Wow, i am glad you really try to find the leak and fixing it, you can't find that many ac technicians out there to do that .
Some just put ferrion and 3 or 4 months later do the same .
I got 12 unit apartments that has old r22 and he keeps adding ferrion if a unit is frozen or not cooling., he says it is cheaper than replacing it.

I’ll put in my notes “no leaks were found at this time. Need to return for a more thorough leak search” such as pressurized, before I outright condemn something without proving it.

I know you have mentioned it but for the sake of time. What detector is that ? I’m using the Fieldpiece SRL2(K7) and I can’t find a leak to save my life. The ultrasonic detector I have is usually good for flat systems that I pump up with 250 psi of nitrogen.

Dam, I worked on a ton of these style units, very simple to work on and leaks are always down by the drain pan....
