I just fixed my loose drain plug. Thank you! The shop I went to recently quoted around 300 bucks to replace the entire drain pan. The oversized plug cost about six dollars.. Took about 45 minutes total including purchasing the drain plug pan and extra oil. Thanks again!!

only if the engine has a lot of sludge when you look into the valve cover. Normally just changing it is fine.

Hey Scotty I just bought 2004 Chrysler Sebring my first non-asian car. Day three it's already dripping oil. So I was able to keep bringing home Jack it up and I turned the bolt and it was loose and it would not tighten so that I loosened it more took forever to get it off there got a new Bolt still the same problem it's got to be rethreaded but I don't want to go to scam artist mechanic and they say I need a whole new oil pan gasket which will charge like a million dollars

get it scanned with a real machine as in my video "fixing modern cars using high level scan computers" cause any problem in the vehicle can turn that traction light on, it's a software design so any problem will shut off the trac system.

the oil was only a week old, that's why it was leaking, the guy screwed up the job

And where do the metal shavings from the re-threading go?

work for motorcycle too? I have the leak problem, when i removed the bolt, it turned out the previous owner over torqued the drain bolt.

To be safe I go ahead once the oil is out back in, drain and dump in fresh oil. That way any small shavings don’t end up in your engine from the cutting

that's one solution. you could of also used a piggy back drain plug (pretty similar) but without having to remove the main plug off every time for an oil change OR could have used a butterfly drain plug. should have changed the oil scotty

Scotty Kilmer I've got to fix my car tomorrow so idk if I'll get a response in time but if I've got a leaking drain plug is there anything else that could've caused it? Would replacing it with a standard drain plug work or simply do nothing? Also, how risky is it to do this procedure? I'd hate to give it a shot and really screw it up.
