Thank you bro! With this method, I can not only have a standalone, but useful when I want to slowly migrate from a LTS to another without touching the Flathub path. I used to only overwrite when the next version from the same branch is available. I only have to manually check on Blender website under LTS but is so much better and safer in this way.

Thank you for this. I would have never figured it out. Coming from Windows, this is the most UN-intuitive and convoluted process for installing software I have ever seen. In windows, you just download the zip file, takes 2 seconds in Windows, extract it to whatever folder you use to store portable apps, right click on the executable file and you can paste a shortcut to your taskbar. Then just double click on the icon, or the executable file in the folder, and IT JUST WORKS!
No esoteric command line copying files back and forth. I didn't understand that part AT ALL.
I tried to install it first from the Zorin package manager, but the version there was so ancient I wouldn't know how to use it. Then I installed the snap pack version and it did nothing. Installed, but then when you try to execute, nothing happens. Now I am downloading the .tar. xz file. Half an hour later, it is STILL DOWNLOADING. I guess that will give me some time to watch your video five or six times to figure out what the copying documents back and forth is all about. Thanks again.

If I choose to download Blender straight from their site and integrate it as you show in the first part of the video, where would be the best place to store the extracted Blender folder? You wouldn't leave in Downloads or Desktop, would you? Thanks!
