My roommate (a painter) and I talk at length about how staring at your work and/or stepping away and viewing the work with fresh eyes can really do wonders for a piece. She has done paintings and even if she’s done painting for the night she’ll just study it for hours after. I’ve had illustrations almost a year old that I’ll look at again and see something I want to push or add too it. Such an important part of the process! Great video and nice paintings!

As someone who has an Instagram account for art, I cannot stress how important editing, lighting, and quality photos are! My editing may still not be perfect, but I will say that when coming across a persons Instagram account, their aesthetic and how well their photos are edited plays a HUGE role in whether I follow them or not. Always practice taking good photos, art friends!

Great video Robin! Stepping away from my work is always very helpful for me. I also feel like sometimes you can get so caught up in your work being perfect when you work at it for so long that you can’t even see how well it’s coming along anymore. A.k.a. ART BRAIN OVERLOAD

Lol these are all really great tips. I love how you paint water. C: I need to practice that more haha. Personally I also believe that if you try to save a painting that youre not even a little bit thrilled about and it's just not working out in composition, then just start over. Some people hate it when I say that but I think it's like a biggest creative reset button.
