This just makes me more convinced that the series should've focused on Gohan after the Cell saga.

If Goku trained with Piccolo instead, he'd surpass him in a few weeks or less. The gap would have been closed and it wouldn't be intense training after a certain point. Gohan was the better choice because of his insane potential. He'd get as strong as Goku within a few months, then start to get challenging before the end of the year. Goku wasn't expecting ss2, but it showed him that he was right about Gohan. He did have it in him to surpass him.

the cell saga was peak dragon ball . even db super cant reach that height . the writing the build up the ending . everything about the cell saga is perfect

Damn LSM this video hits hard really liked your pts. One thing I wish you brought up though was how people were bringing up Vegeta instead of Gohan, but your video still stands because Goku and Gohan have better consistent potential than Vegeta.
Also just imagine your son being stronger than you when hes like age 3-4 a real man and father steps up like Goku.

Just imagine what Gohan would’ve been if Goku would’ve been sparring with him day 1. He’d probably be like Goten. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Meanwhile Vegeta probably looked at Trunks as a softy and didn’t even attempt to spar with him until Trunks went SSJ. And he probably still doesn’t spar with him.

I totally agree. If you pay attention on Season 5 Goku told Gohan right as they go into the chamber that they were going to train where Gohan would surpass him at the end.
