You might have mentioned placing a credit Alert with the credit companies, or even a credit freeze with the credit companies, and how to do that.

Fraudulent tax return happened to me. Now the IRS mails me a pin I need to file with. It is time to make this upgrade for every taxpayer. And maybe we need better security than a nine digit password that is spread everywhere.

I wish the government would come up with a new way to identify people.. we do have technology now..

FYI: the IRS reps will NEVER contact you by phone. If you're ever in trouble with them, you will get an official letter in the mail, instructing you what to do and if you have any questions, you will be calling them and not the other way around.

Therefore, if anyone claims to be calling you on behalf of the IRS, be brave and tell that person to butt out... Pure and simple.

My mother had trouble when my parents tried to get a mortgage because another woman had her same first and last name. She also had bad credit. Forget the SS#.

I just gave some phony employer a picture of my ID front and back and my social security number through text. I put out a fraud alert on the 3 major credit bureaus and also a freeze. I’m worried they might file a tax return

I just received notice today that not only my social security number showed up on the dark web, but also my drivers license number, phone number and state I live in. I pulled copies of all 3 credit reports, placed a fraud alert on my credit reports and also subscribed to a credit monitoring service. Is there anything else I should do? I'm worried.

They can buy homes and cars under your name with just a SS card. Happen to me in 1995, police showed upp at my mother house looking for me and showed her a picture and she like that not my son. Then 1 year later CID with the army showed up at my mothers and other family members looking for me for being AWOL, yet I wasnt in the Army. Picture they had was same guy as before.

He did finally get caught 2 more years later turned out he had same name as me and he got my SS number from a public index with my county, before they did whiteout.
I fought in court spending a lot of money on lawyers to get most of the stuff he charged under my name like a Honda Prelude removed. Think I spent close to 12k dollars getting most removed.

Going to Ancestry and other genealogical sites, if you look up deceased relatives information the death records show Social Security numbers. Spend a lifetime securing your SSN and they publicize it when your dead?

I was a victim to fraudulent rental application. I filled it out with my id and my social..I know I'm an idiot but I'm scared and worried. I froze my bank accounts and filled out a police report. After watching this video I'm very scared and now I know they'll probably use it to make a credit card. I feel like I've ruined my life. Can someone please reply with what I should do? I'm really scared
