It's great to see a long term view rather than a someone whose just had a quick look over the two products 👍

After I recently started editing on an iPad I love the process! Can chill on the couch and easily take it with me.

This is such a great and thoughtful comparison. I like how you've highlighted several use cases and workflows and how which device might be better for each. Really helpful!

The fun factor you mentioned is the biggest one for me. I agree with everything here. I just got the exact ipad pro you have to see if it will help my processing in anyway. I found that It hasn't made my process any better or more efficient and from a work flow stand point(I do mainly sports photos) I cant say I love the iPad. But I have so much fun editing on the iPad. So its basically down to whether I think its worth keeping for the fun experience. And I think it is. Great video!

The iPad will become an obvious choice IF you love the 100V. Imagine the small shoulder bag with just the IPad, 100V and an SD card adapter plus Apple Pencil inside?! That is pretty much my setup with XE4. I just have a couple of lenses (4) in the bag too.

I edit all my photos with Lightroom on an Android tablet, and obviously the features are a bit limited compared to the desktop version, but I get by anyway. My edits are always on the "light" side, and the only things I miss are the ones you mentioned: HDR and Pano merging, but I make do with other Android apps because I don't do a lot of those anyway.
I stay in front of a computer all day for work, and the last thing I want is keep doing that for editing photos, so an inexpensive Android tabled works really, really well for me: in the evening, I sit on the couch and edit one or two photos, in a very relaxing way.

Fantastic in-depth comparison Roman. As someone who never saw the necessity to own an iPad (since I had a 16” MacBook Pro and my iPhone) I can wholeheartedly agree that the experience of using an iPad made such an impact that I actually sold the MacBook Pro (I bought an M1 Mac Mini later on to complement the setup).

I’m so glad you made this video. This is my current dilemma between which iPad to upgrade to in relation to what device I want to edit on thank you!

I use my iPad Air for everything and it’s been great so far, waiting for my 14” MBP! Highly recommend waiting for the iPad Air 2 coming in April if you can wait if you want a cheaper pro alternative.

as a professional photographer, batch processing and asset management is critically needed.. this is the reasons i cant convert to ipad yet

Thumbs up. Perfect timing, Air for me and tablet later- when C1 iOS eventuates. Your tech talk is clear and concise, the same as your nft vid, actually all of them come to think of it. 👍👍

Excellent video. I think your assessment is spot on….not a pro - but I have both (MacBook Pro M1 2020 and iPad Pro M1) for very much of the reasons you cited. Enjoying your channel… thanks for all of the content you put out there.

A very concise analysis. I personally use a MacBook but love the idea of editing images on iPad Pro, as it just seems more engaging not only in the editing but by sitting with the family while they watch another pointless series I can edit my images. Maybe I can persuade the missus for me to upgrade my iPad to the Pro 🤔

Very interesting I sent my Ipad Pro back, and did what you just said and use a Macbook Air M1, fantastic value for the price in a very neat form factor.

One thing that’s critical to me is that the MacBook cannot have a cellular connection. This may not apply in all locations, but being able to get a data plan for an iPad is a large factor in me looking to upgrade my older iPad Air to an iPad Pro over a MacBook.

Thanks for a really helpful video. Just a quick comment to say that I use my iPad Pro with an external monitor. Works well for me. Thanks again.

Excellent video Roman and agree 100%. As someone who uses an Imac and the IPad Pro I fail to understand why the file management system on the IPad is worse than file management on Windows 95 27 years ago, sure the current version is better than before but it feels nothing more than incredibly crude when the rest of the device feels like a different planet to anything from 1995 !!!
